Would anyone happen to know how I would go about printing cover art that has a holographic metallic sheen to it? Do I need a special ink? Or is there a certain kind of photo printing shop I need to go to? I don't really know what the effect is called, but here are a few titles that use it:

American Psycho
Blade Runner
The Alien Anthology
Black Swan (Slipcover)

Also, does anyone know how I could add that effect to covert art that I try to make myself? Is there a certain program I need to use? I've never really done any photoshopping, but I would like to get into it.

There is holographic printing which is very expensive and – unless you have the proper equipment – impossible to achieve at home.

Or there is metallic printing which would require at very least the appropriate inks, but even then it wouldn't turn out the same as the studio produced ones because that high gloss effect comes from a film that is placed on the paper post-printing.

Photoshop would be no help at all unless you had the proper supplies.

I've long wondered what the result would be like if a person affixed aluminum foil to a sheet of paper via glue and tried to print on it. Would the ink just run off (and possibly ruin the printer) or would it stick and provide a suitable mirror like sheen to areas without ink?

It's not quite that simple. It can be done, but it's a bit of a process...

Here is a nice little write up on how it can be achieved. http://marytaylorart.com/FAQ/inkAID.htm

I order solely by alphabet, regardless of sequels. All collections are based on personal preference.

I don't really like that Empire cover, but I guess it works fine as a "phase 2" cover, cause it shows characters but it doesn't feel like a "exact movie poster". Also it works well with the Avengers poster from phase one.

But I may change it if there will be something better in a few months.
Just a wonderful cover and can't wait for Phase II to be finished! i just printed mine out and it fits a 25 mm spine perfect! Would you also conisder resizing these for a 6 disc 15mm spine thats even thinner? Got to love space savers

This is where I buy all my cases. They have nice 15mm spine 6 disc cases and 10 disc 25 mm cases.

Thanks for the info. Would you be able to tell me what sort of shop I would have to go to to have some printed?

Small change in the Phase Two project. Still waiting for textless poster to emerge, but it works better than Empire cover. Also changed the blue frame into red.

That looks way cooler, in my opinion.

How does one print a cover for a 25mm case anyway? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

How exactly does one go about creating custom covers? Like, not printing them, but making them.

I sit on Photoshop all day at work, and sometimes I have a little downtown. So why not try to create my own?

What dimensions, overall size, resolution, etc should be used? Is there a simple template you can download and drag/drop images & text into?

Default REQUEST: Hellraiser III & Hellraiser V: Inferno

Hey, first public post here, but I've been reading this forum for years.

You guys are all very talented. I was wondering, if anyone has done any custom cover art for Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth and/or Hellraiser V: Inferno?

I have the JP release of Hellraiser III Blu-Ray and aside from not being a fan of the cover art they used, I'd like one that's all in English to match the others.

As for Inferno, I have the Hellraiser IV/V double feature release but I'd just like to stick an Inferno cover on it as I also own the standalone release of IV.

If anyone has done these or knows where I might find them, let me know here or via PM... Thanks!

Follow this LINK for some blank blu ray cover templates. You can also do a search for the dimensions through Google. As for resolution, I usually try not to go below 300dpi (otherwise your image will come out very fuzzy).
Happy cover making.

I'm trying to sort through years of posts to get a simple answer, but it ain't happening, so here goes:

Using a new (2014 HP) printer, how does one go about printing one of these out?

So many of these are amazing. There's a lot of good work going on here. Well done.
