I don't think Nissen is 'retired' from custom making. He's probably so back-logged with requests it takes him time to get them done and then he posts. Besides the forum won't let him retire!

The first time I used Paint... then upgraded to Paint.net, now I'm inbetween Paint.net and Gimp. Photoshop is too beyond my knowledge right now to even attempt it. Besides, I can't really afford it now anyways.

Nice start! A couple of things I might suggest working on or fixing.
Colin is only spelled with one 'L'
And the layout of the cover could use some re-working, I'd try brightening it up a little bit so that you can see a little more detail from the poster, as it is now, the black is swallowing a lot of the really cool details, also the JW logo is covering half of the nearest raptor's face.

Great job so far, looking forward to seeing the final product.

Thanks for the feedback, Rebel! I was having lots of issues with the front cover (I wasn't sure where to put the bulky JW logo), but I'm trying to work around that.

Well, thanks. That is kinda what I was thinking as I was putting the front and spine together. I wasn't fond of the studio art, and there are not a lot of options that are better (IMO) in the way of available resources. So, I kept tinkering until I got something I was satisfied with.

Hi all. The news of my "retirement" are accurate, but only in the sense of taking on paid commissions. I will still do personal projects, and have a bunch of prior commitments to honour, so expect me to appear regularly as I always have. (Now and then I may even do commissioned work, but only if the assignment appeals to me.)

Spurred on by Robert George's Commando, here's a cover I did four years ago, back when I was just starting out. PM me for copies.

LOL! Just realized I left off Rae Dawn Chong in the pictures on the back. Newbie mistake! Even the General who's in the movie for two minutes gets a headshot!

And I noticed I left out the credit for Matthew Leonetti, the DP. That's what happens when one works while on pain meds
