It's not that I oppose criticism, it's just that criticism is easier to take when I'm concentrating on that cover and in the work in progress period. Does that make since? If you have a preference regarding the cover, I'm totally fine with that, it's the things like "doesn't really work for me" or "I dunno seems weird" etc.

For example, I don't consider it a criticism that you guys don't want the "Experience High Definition" banner at the bottom of the Léon cover. It's more of a preference. I dunno, I'm getting carried away. Just forget that I said that I deleted it cuz it seems stupid that I said that, I guess with all the crap that's been going on lately I'm just insecure about things.

I didn't even notice the high def text on the front at first, but now it is obvious (with the shine) and I agree (I don't really like it). The shine on the back seems distracting to me...maybe a little too bright. I like the darkness of the back of the first version. And I like the brighter face on the front of the first version too.

I personally like the "experience high definition" banner on the front, but since it's been requested twice, then I'll drop it. I do agree that it would make the front look a little cleaner.

I figured you meant something like that Ag. I will note that your comment will live forever in this thread unless Cine removes it from the quote on his reply!

Default Just saying

For example, Im in a television criticism class right now and a film criticism class in the fall. Although criticism can be annoyingly over critical, it does open up new avenues of the creative thought process. I think it's important to realize the doors criticism can open. You may think somebody is just saying something stupid and thoughtless, but then you may reach a new perspective based on what what was said. I don't know, I wouldn't put that "no criticism" disclaimer because that would be closing off the potential for some really good ideas or improvements.

As for the No High Definition thing, It's really not a big deal deal. I would like it either way, because it fits in with the studio covers or it looks like a unique custom, whatever's clever.

Default Harry Potter covers

Dr. Andonuts - thanks for the Harry Potter covers! Will these fit the Vortex three disc cases from Vernon? If not, would you post an alternate sized cover that will? Thanks a bunch for the hard work. Appreciated!!!!!!

As the weekend sneaks up on us. I thought I'd speak on the artist who is and shall be dv8pdx

He is an artist, a creator, a designer. One with imagination boundless as the sea. Worlds swirl and boil under his fingers and emerge from chaos at his whim.

Mighty creator of good. His very thoughts come to us. He is not the great scribe, but the protector of the tales. For truly, the sacred stories are incomplete without his hand covering and blessing them.

May our children shudder at his name and offer him thanks. For without his benevolence, we would shroud our precious memories in the wretched creations of his enemies. Demons who have not the enlightenment of his design.

Do not smite us dv8pdx. Share your wisdom with us all. Make our existence complete!

--

OK, I thought if I was going to ask for that Netflix cover, I could at least butter him up a bit.

Thanks to all for the great work here.

Just a mental note to the designers, now that blu-ray titles are pushing 50% of the sales, and is becoming more mainstream, most of the studios have stopped putting the "Experience High Definition", or "1080p High Definition Video" etc. on the bottom of the front covers, except for Universal's tag line "The Ultimate Hi-Def Experience" is the one that's really only left in use, for now. Just a note for those going for "authenticity". Many things originally on cover art for blu-rays are being dropped now that more people know what blu-ray is and the movie no longer has to sell the product, but now the product sells the movie.

thanks for the note dv8! I actually did notice that today when I went to bestbuy to pick up a copy of Leon, which speaking of I should have the final cover posted tonight to all those waiting.

As for the topic on criticism, I don't mind it at all and I actually think it can be very constructive; however, one would have to admit that criticism is taken better in the WIP stages of the cover. When an artist submits a "final cover" it's usually harder to take the "criticism" because if the artist has not changed certain elements which were suggested in the WIP stages then it's usually due to the artist's own prefernces.

The only Blu-ray Digi books i have that need covers...are...

How the West was Won

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Series

And a North By Northwest the matches the art from the Digi Book, and disc art, if possible.
I have seen the link, to the cover that was made from the poster art, but i have not written the artist to ask for it. It is a nice cover, however!

Default criticism

Aggie, the reasons why criticism makes more sense in the WIP stages are crystal clear.

It wasn't a bone I was trying to pick or anything like that. I was just thinking it would be a shame for somebody to withhold an excellent idea because of the thought it might offend the artists.

Keep up the good work everybody. Praise Jah!

Anyone care to make this happen?
Well I whipped this up:

This is the first cover for a BluRay I have made so im not sure if all the dimensions are right and I didn't have time to print and test it.

Although I really cant take credit for making it because I just copied the image from the front and back of the digibook, all I had to do was resize some things and making the side

I never got the impression that you were trying to pick a bone at all. I completely respect you cinephile and your question and it never rubbed me the wrong way.

Small request if anyone is up to it.

I'm looking for a slight alteration for my "Fanboys" Alliance (Canadian release)

Using the USA SD-DVD release art, if someone could use the front, back, and spine from the original, only removing the tagline in blue, and changing it to "Two Disc Saga Edition", I'd be forever grateful.

I'm partnering my SD with my BD in a 2 hub Vortex case. Figured it would make for a cool combo.

Thanks!
