Netflix won't be able to sustain a low fee all you can view buffet. Hollywood knows Netflix is devaluing their content and they are going to push for higher prices from Netflix which will drive up the subscription fees. We are just at the beginning of this change and don't believe for a second that the content providers are doing all this in the best interest of consumers. Netflix is going to have to move to tiered streaming services. Netflix basic will most likely be like Hulu... mostly old TV shows and C and D list movies. If you want A-list content, Netflix isn't going to be $7.99/month. It will be more like $30/month. Last edited by Tok; 08-14-2013 at 09:21 PM. |

![]() Without a doubt, the year after year merry-go-round does become rather tedious at times. Not to worry though Steed as thanks to waka (flocka) ![]() After the Youtube commercial, the endless debate can resume unhindered. |

I hope you are right because the day they kill owning a physical copy and remove the pay once for unlimited views is the day I abandon the hobby and say screw whatever the greedy studio system puts out.

exactly ownership IS THE REASON I'm in this hobby. without it I'd just toss some crap on the 50 inch plasma and forgo the speakers and everything else. no enjoyment in something you can't own

![]() Before full-length flicks were commercially available and you had to buy a ticket at the neighborhood theatre for each viewing... Or you could suffer through the pan-n-scan versions of a film, edited-for-time so that the broadcast TV channel could pay for its use by shoving commercials at you every 10-15 minutes. ![]() BTW, is the same prediction still being made for music CDs? Away with physical media. Let them pay to download files? |

Just because streaming options, quality and availability increase doesn't mean that anything is happening to physical media. Just because more people stream doesn't mean that physical media is going away. Yeah, it may be harder to rent physical media, but there will always be some physical form available.

Its a no brainer. If you old enough, you remember $80 VHS movies in the 80s, that's $165 today adjusted for inflation. You can get Blu-rays new for $5. You get HD access to tens of thousands of titles streaming for $8. Access is cheaper and better than ever.

Isn’t that your favorite footballer of all time shown quickly in the historical montage of past World Cup greats near the end of the clip?
Quote:
I explained that ^ particular imagery contribution somewhere in Club Penton back-in-day….in other words, the 3D Blu-ray of the 2010 World Cup contained both native stereoscopic footage as well as 2D -> 3D converted shots (which was probably never publicized because of anti-3D conversion sentiment at the time). Anyway, a lot of 3D cameras located in prime camera positions (reserved for 2D HD cameras) would have involved the proposition of additional expensive seat kills (which doesn’t go over too well with FIFA, etc.). So, similarly, I would expect the same type of situation to happen with 4K cameras covering the 2014 Cup (they’ll lose the *turf war*), so the 4K Blu-ray producer will most likely be inclined to use some HD -> 4K up-conversion to fill in some of the action. If this does happen, might be interesting to see if anyone can correctly spot the difference (in native acquisition), for, if memory serves, nobody could with converted stuff in the 3D Blu-ray of the 2010 World Cup (in fact, if I recall, some reviewers (unknowingly) declared the footage (which was actually 2D -> 3Dconverted) as some of the best 3D of the entire Blu-ray). |
