AMC's "Fear The Walking Dead" (Season 8)

Nick is dead but why didn't they kill him off last season at the dam? Why did he come back for 3 episodes that served no purpose to his character? It was even the actors choice to leave the show, not like it was thrown in last minute.

I caught up on the last two episodes last night. It looks like my fears about skipping ahead to be contemporary with TWD are coming true. Instead of a family searching the new apocalypse for safe haven, with the old world fresh in their heads, encountering others trying to adapt and survive, it's just TWD lite. Have a safe place, fight with enemies with their own weird society, lose safe place, rinse and repeat.

I disliked S2 because of all the wandering in Mexico. I don't care what's happening there. I really liked the Ranchers in S3, because that group was based on real people now. Can't have something based on reality; gotta skip ahead to the Parking Lot Hipsters!

Yeah, I want her to die a horrible, horrible death. I now hate her more than Tara, which is saying something.

Certainly one of the least telegraphed deaths of the series. I didn't see that coming even when the shot was heard.

The death so he can be free of the show makes no sense. He is still around in the stadium time. How will they explain him just disappearing back then?

The more I think about it the more I dislike Nick dying. It felt like there was still a story that they were trying to tell with his character and now there is no payoff. They never really got into why he hated going outside now, aside from a quick little "this is why I feel better inside the walls" mention in this weeks episode. At the end of season 3 it seemed like they were trying to go down the road of him becoming an addict again too.

Maybe for the shock value. Him dying during the dam explosion would have been perceived as an act of courage... and suicide... and maybe lazy writting! But now, we can all hate that lil' girl for murdering one of the best chatacter of the series!!!

Exactly! Him saying that he prefers staying inside is kinda out-of-chatacter IMO. I mean, Nick was presented as the junky, the street smart kind of guy that would survive more easily than any others outside, not afraid of putting rotten guts on him to live with the undead... and now he's suddenly affraid of going out... I dont know, it feels off.

Killing Nick is a shame. His death leaves me little hope that Luciana will stick around for long. I swear, if they kill Alicia...

That's funny because I have no true favorite character in the original Walking Dead. Even Rick could die, the show would ne the same for me. But Nick... and Alicia, they were the ones I liked the most in FTWD. Oh well... Now go Alicia, go kill that little brat!!! I don't support infanticide, but that's different in the apocalypse!!! lol

I'm right there with you in regards to TWD and its characters. I used to like all of the main cast like Rick, Glenn, Abe, Daryl, etc... these days though, I really don't care. Even Rick has changed and isn't the leader that he was in the first 5-6 seasons.

The characters in Fear are more interesting than the main cast of TWD has been in quite a while.

See. This is what FearTWD is much better than TWD. Their deaths come unexpected and quick. Not drawn out an entire episode or turned into a gimmick.

[Show spoiler]As of that moment "what's left of his family" is basically just Alicia. If they're extending the term family to mean outside blood relationship, then that accounts for Strand and Luci. Therefore, he has no other family besides who is standing over him at that moment. So that seems to suggest Madison is dead.

[Show spoiler]Kim Dickens recently stated in an interview that she can't tell fans to worry or not worry about Madison's fate. So it's up in the air, I guess.

The death was a big surprise and at the start of the show I wasn't a fan of Nick but he grew on me. Sucked seeing him go. But I'm also ok with it. This is why I love Fear so much more than TWD.

I was afraid with the intro change the show would change as well. So far it looks like that won't be the case.

This show has me looking forward to the next week, every week, TWD usually has me yawning or pulling my hair out from annoyance wanting the season to just end.

I didn't watch Sunday's episode until last night but even before that it was spoiled by some headline I saw online, it didn't specify who died only that someone did.
I was completely thrown off when I watched though, they had it set up like it was Madison, which was a great misdirect.
I went back and forth on liking Nick but man that was a surprise and certainly more emotional than anything on TWD has done in several seasons.
Great use of the different color tones in the past vs present scenes.
God this show is just miles ahead in overall quality compared to the flagship. It used to be a chore to watch and I almost gave up a couple times but am glad I stuck with it!
