AMC's "Fear The Walking Dead" (Season 8)

Hmmm... RIP my favorite TV show. What a shitty season for Fear the Walking Dead! I hate every episodes of it. Season 3 was amazing!!! How they could fail that quickly?!!!

The only character that could save the show is the smart kid from the pilot.

I was thinking it could be a Glenn and the dumpster scenario, but that instagram post kinda kills that theory.

Just my two cents:

[Show spoiler]I know it’s been confirmed on a lot of media outlets and also on Talking Dead, but personally I don’t think Madison is really dead. First, you don’t actually see her get mauled or bitten or anything of that nature. Yes, the walkers were closing in on her but that’s it. If you don’t actually see the death, then I think it leaves room for a return. But I do think Kim Dickens is off the show, at least for now. I think the writers are pulling a Jon Snow fake death similar situation unlike the fake Glenn dumpster death. The Glenn fakeout was so poorly received that I think the writers of Fear wanted to go the similar route when Jon Snow was supposedly killed off. Since when Jon Snow was supposedly killed off, all the GoT writers and even Kit Harrington confirmed that Jon was dead but next season he was resurrected. So to avoid the negative feedback from Glenn’s fake death, they probably made Kim “confirm” that “Madison has died.” I think she’ll be back later down the road, maybe during the season finale or next season.

I'm not sure what to make of what I saw last night...

[Show spoiler]If Madison is truly dead... (a part of me thinks she isn't, and all of this stuff on Talking Dead is just to avoid Dumpstergate 2.0)... Then, WTF. I mean, Madison has made her fair share of stupid decisions, and at some points through seasons 1-3, I've questioned what they heck she (the writers) were thinking with those moves. However, why kill her off now? That serves no purpose. It doesn't advance the story any further... and it puts the story on Alicia? Morgan?

Frank (Nick) asked to be killed. Why would the new showrunners kill off two of their main cast within the first 8 episodes of their run? Is it like them coming in and asserting their "power" over the show and putting in THEIR people/characters?

If Madison isn't dead... then screw AMC. The door is open of course for her to be alive. We didn't see her death on screen. So, could AMC try to pull another fast one on us? Didn't HBO and the actor confirm Jon Snow's death before he returned?

I know the showrunners are different, and Gimple is overlord, but, I find this quote from the former showrunner, Dave Erickson, interesting - "The thing that's interesting to me, and one of the questions I asked myself and asked Robert Kirkman very on was of the people in our group, who do you see becoming the Governor? Of our group, who could become a Negan? That's interesting to me, to watch an evolution of a character and start with them as a hero, and bleed that into antihero, and bleed that into full-on villain"

So, Madison could truly be dead, from a certain point of view.

I've thought each season of this show kept improving. I even was loving this season and I guess I hoped the questionable choices of the previous ep would be explained. Instead, they doubled down on the stupidity.

First, there is the idiotic stuff with Nick and Alicia hanging out in the parking lot. Part of me thought that maybe they waited to see if they'd open the gate since there was an argument going on about doing so. So...ok. Whatever. I would've honked my horn and led the zombies away, but that's just me.

But, then, we had everyone else in the stadium decide to drive their vehicles into the zombie swarm as well? What? That's when the show turned into a comedy as we watched slow-mo shots of the stadium D-listers apparently meet their fate as they drove to their deaths.

I guess we'll never know what the purpose was of that group waiting so long outside the stadium. Maybe they just wanted Madison and Co. to join them and if they didn't they'd kill them? I don't know.

But, then we have the big ones... first, why was Alicia now a terminator out to get Naomi/June? What did she do that was so horrible? She ran after the stadium fell. Are you serious? She's responsible for Madison's death because she ran? How in the world are Alicia and Nick not responsible then? They seemed to be annoyed that June also took off with the bad guys (?), but it made zero sense that she at all contributed to Madison's death.

Madison's "death".... ugh. So, Nick and Alicia couldn't lead the walkers away with a car and a horn, but Madison became the pied piper with a flare? And if that was going to work, why not use the flare to lead them AWAY FROM THE STADIUM? There are too many walkers in the parking lot to do that, you say? I mean, Madison couldn't even leave because there were so many (everyone else had no problem hanging out in the parking lot, though - they killed a path to the car somehow, but couldn't go back to get Madison out???)! Too bad June had zero problems doing it.

After Alicia went full-on Rambo to kill June, she sits down and eats with the person who actually WAS responsible for killing her brother.

Despite Kim Dickens' Instagram post and Talking Dead appearance, the problem with these shows is that we've learned that if you don't see the death happen onscreen, it didn't happen. They want us to think Madison is dead? Show it. It was dumb enough that she'd go out that way and I wouldn't even question whether she was alive if it weren't for Dickens insisting she is. It wouldn't be the first time an actor played along with a character's supposed death. If so, though, it's obnoxious.

Oh - and what was with that ring of fire that was placed for the walkers to walk through? I don't get that, either. I mean, it looked cool, but shouldn't that really kill the walkers? At the point where they are just skeletons, shouldn't they stop walking?

I think it was mostly because she ran and ended up with the group that was responsible for everything - and with a history of running away from stuff. I'd be pissed also.

Very much enjoyed the mid season finale. TWD, GoT and how Fear, I like this trend of shows that have no problem killing of a main character. Always sad to see them go, but it certainly demonstrates that these worlds are absolutely brutal.
I was cracking up at the sneak peak of a “tanked” Strand.
This show keeps getting better and better for me!

After Rick leaves/dies I think I'm gonna be done with both shows. My interest has reached a new low and all of the characters that I've come to care about are gone, story has gone to complete trash, everything is just bad about Fear/TWD now.

There were lots of "What the heck?" moments last night but for me it was

[Show spoiler]Alicia and Al fighting in the APC with Alicia's head being threatened by a sea of Zombies to -Zap - Alicia seemingly having no trouble entering the stadium to confront Naomi and Morgan and all three returning to the APC and calmly talking/helping John with no apparent Zombies around to bother them (remember the door being blown away). Did I miss something? Where did all of the Zombies go?

It is like someone did what they did to the stadium to the whole Walking Dead franchise. WTH is going on over there. Someone just loves to watch thing burn.

The new character portions were the only redeeming thing about this half season. It was just so aggravating.

Alicia is hot but her character is pretty weak imo. Strand is still cool.

I liked the Season 4 midseason Finale, good drama and good action. But still the Timeline changes sucks. I hope they change it during Season 4.2 and stay in one Timeline.

They showed an angle shot at one point and the door was above the heads of the zombies, meaning they couldn't get in. That said, not sure I've seen many swat vehicles where the door is situated higher than that of a semi-truck. Maybe they were really short zombies...

Alicia has become such a badass now. Her character development from s1 to now is really like Rick basically.

Question: Did they ever told what happened to Daniel Salazar? If I recall correctly, last time who saw him, he was fighting his way across the dam before the detonation in the Season 3 finale.
