There's no reason to release just the episodes... people learned their lessons (me included) with that barebones set from S1 that AMC would flop if they did it again. They have the time and prep, they can put out one release now.

And I'm still waiting on an awesome price to upgrade to the S1 SE.

Then go get a direct-to-video zombie flick. The brilliance of The Walking Dead is the character development. If you take away all the character background and moral dilemma(both past & present), you are basically left with a B-grade zombie apocolypse hack fest.

Me too! I've had it in my Amazon cart for awhile now. I'm hoping it drops when S2 is released. If not, perhaps BF '12.

Edit: Sitting at $24.99 now, I'll bite(pun intended) at $19.99!

I agree.
[Show spoiler]I did not expect to see some of the main characters killed off, especially Dale. Glad Shane is gone though. He was just starting to get to me. (Sorry Shane fans!) If you watched "Talking Dead" after the season finale, they did discuss more kills in season 3!

Go watch a zombie movie then. This is not a Zombie show, it's a survival show where the zombies are the background threat.

Agreed. This show isn't a video game. This is a drama television series.

The show did slag a bit in season 2 but that finale was easily the BEST episode of the series so far.

The reason the finale was so good, imho, was because we took the time to show all the little trials & tribulations the group had on a human level. Had that been rushed, I don't know if it would've played out as well.
Plus if any of these "must have killing" fans had read the comics, they would know
[Show spoiler]there's a total Sh*tstorm brewing on the horizon and you'll get your fill of:
Human killing Zombies
Zombies killing Humans
Humans killing Humans

The Walking Dead is all about the Zombies. Why do you think they call it "The Walking Dead". If it wasn't, they would have called it "The Walking Alive" or "The Walking Humans". What made the first season so great was that it was basically a television series version of Dawn of the Dead, but excuse me for saying this, AMG buchered the seacond season and turned it into a human drama with very few Zombies. If I wanted to watch Drama, I'd watch Smash, Grey's Anatomy or The Good Wife.

As it happens, I don't watch Walking Dead for the human drama. I watch it to be entertained by human survivors of an apolocalypse killing the undead. Why do you think I enjoy watching Dawn of the Dead films or Resident Evil or Underworld ... I want to see more Zombie killing and a return to what we saw in the first season.

You couldn't be more wrong. It's widely known and accepted that the group of surviving humans are, indeed, the "Walking Dead" of the title; the title is meant as a double entendre.

It's obviously meant to be a thought-provoking title; most folks who haven't thought it out think that the title refers only to the immediate danger in the situation: the zombies.

If you want more zombie action, Blockbuster is chock full'o direct-to-video zombie garbagefests, made by creators who couldn't care less about little things like "quality scripting", "backstory", and "emotional ties to the story itself". I wouldn't waste my time watching (far more than) 95% of them; they do not/will not/cannot compare to TWD.

Backing up what you've written, Robert Kirkman has repeatedly said in interview that "The Walking Dead" title refers to the human survivors. Any long term reader of the comic book can testify that it makes sense. It makes even more sense in the TV show as it has been revealed that
[Show spoiler]they each have the zombie virus.

And I can back up both of you as well. Love the assumptions people make.

Thing is, this sort of mentality also plagued the viewership of tv series like LOST and The Sopranos. "More island, less flashbacks!" "More monbster killing, less Tony with his immediate family!" People just want all action all the time... which makes for boring television.

i agree......this is also what killed off Stargate Universe which i LOVED because they concentrated on the characters and human emotions in those situations........pissed me off they canceled it. i just hope The Walking Dead can go further. i actually enjoy caring about characters because it gives you a chance to put yourself in that situation and ask yourself what would YOU do.... character development is hard to find in good tv shows nowadays so lets keep on truckin with what they are giving us! more killing will come...

No thanks, I'll just wait for the exclusive complete series that will inevitably be released in 6-7 years. Im done buying seasons then having AMC release 'exclusive/extended' releases months after. I feel cheated after buying season 1.

Wrong, having personally spoken to Kirkman at Comic Con last couple of years, the title refers to the survivors, not the zombies (which incidentally are never referred to as 'zombies' but as walkers/biters/floaters/lurkers, etc).

A week or so ago, an Amazon 3rd party seller had the S1 3 disk edition for approx. $18.00 plus shipping. I could not help myself from biting (ha ha) at this price as I really wanted the B&W season 1 premier, as well as the additional extras new to this edition.

Good purchase! Yeah I wasn't overly concerned about getting S1 until S2 was to be made available. Looks like that will be happening soon, so I've got S1 firmly locked on my radar!
