How much is Amazon Prime? $80? I love it when people pay $80 and then say they're getting free shipping. There's nothing free about it. You paid for it. I'd much rather just get this myself cheaper at Best Buy then to risk the post office having a football game with it on its way to my front door.

prime is 79 dollars. you don't just get fast, free shipping. you get more than that. not to mention, you don't waste GAS money getting to the store. what happens if somebody has to work or go to school on Tuesday morning? it's a limited edition that could sell out. there's so many factors and you think because you want to waste your time going to the store that everybody else has to do the same. oh and by the way, EVERYTHING is delivered. somebody delivered to bestbuy as well. you never know how many times that box was thrown around. stop acting like if picking it up at a store is special. If you buy from Amazon a lot then $79 is really that much in comparison to how much you'd spend on shipping each time you order, and you get release date delivery. Sometimes it's not worth going to the store if you only save a couple dollars.
I can't say I've ever had UPS, Fed-Ex or the post office have a "football game" with anything I've ordered. |

It's like anything else. With any membership free one simply needs to determine if it's cost effective or not. In my case I purchase a ton of items from Amazon throughout the year which includes nearly all of my DVD/Blu-ray purchases. Love the release date delivery and lowest price guarantee on pre-orders. Without the Amazon Prime membership I can easily rack up $80 in shipping costs over a 6 month period or less. As such, the Amazon Prime membership fee is well worth the price of admission for me as my shipping costs are basically eliminated for half the year or more on items eligible for Amazon Prime shipping. I find added benefit of course in the Amazon Prime next day shipping option which is only $3.99 per item as from time to time I do find myself in a pinch needing something shipped next day. The Amazon Prime membership is also great for those small purchases where in many cases the cost of shipping might exceed the cost of the actual item. I also like the fact that with the free 2-day shipping option (i.e. no additional costs aside from the yearly membership fee) I no longer have to combine orders when possible to save on shipping costs. Very convenient. Should note as well that I'll routinely order items from Amazon using the 2-day shipping option and end up getting them next day. Gotta love that. Lately I've also been getting my pre-orders a day early when Amazon ships via FedEx Smartpost. FedEx Smartpost packages are delivered to your local post office. I find they always arrive at my post office the morning prior to my scheduled delivery date. As such, I'll often just stop by my local post office the day before rather than waiting for them to delivery the item to me the following day.

Amazon prime membership comes out to ~$6.50 a month. That's how much you'd pay for shipping on two separate movies. If you buy more than two movies a month (or any other product), it's well worth it.
Like others have said.... $6.50 a month and you're saving time/gas money/ and tax in some cases. Some people refuse to see the bigger picture but that's all well and good. I'll save money using my amazon prime and they can waste it foolishly for no reason. It is THIER money after all.... Why should we care? ![]() |
