I think this was just a character growth decision for Travis. Just like leaving the soldier alive then going mad when he shoots the daughter instead of the barber. It's all to make us see the changes needed for the character to grow as the main leader. The show writers have spoken and have made him officially their "Rick" for ftwd. Same w the barbers decisions. He had the power and smart to become the smart choice as the leader, but having him go all bad guy in though situations causing more chaos has made him become the outsider that will cause problems and deaths next season. For me he is a mix of Shane and the old man from ftwd.

I think the most telling thing about this series is that it's NOT based/lifted from story lines from the comics; it's a original take on the TWD world. That showed in bucket loads because this series jumped around all of the place with too many convenient coincidences. Really, how likely is it that a small group of people are going to break into a pretty big facility, in the dark, and all manage to meet up by chance?
So Daniel [Show spoiler] Eps1-3 were far better than 4-6 and the [Show spoiler] I didn't think this and TWD were ever going to cross over and I really, really hope they don't. TWD is quality tv, this is a poor spin off and would drag TWD down a peg if the characters ever met. Rick and co wouldn't tolerate this group of idiots anyway. Fear the Walking Dead? No, I didn't. |

Of course considering all the other things they write on the show that doesn't really make sense, I am a little surprised they didn't even try. |

Thought it was a brilliant touch the writers designed it that the audience would be "smarter" than the characters. Obviously the audience knows what's going to happen, whereas the characters do not. A very good touch!
I'm sure that will change next season as this group becomes more hardened having to live off the land just like TWD group has done. We only need to revisit the S1/S2 of the TWD and see how many of the decisions made by Rick & company were not the best. Of course Rick has the benefit of years of law enforcement training to give him a good advantage, while the Fear group has no such luxury(pending Strand's backstory). It the realism of this show that I appreciated. ![]() |

The selling point of FTWD was that it would show us how the world broke down. But it didn't. It skipped that completely and we're now left with a group in the same position Rick's was in at the end of their S1.
Now S1 is out of the way, what is this group going to do that will be different to anything we've already seen? They will get smarter at dealing with walkers, they will learn to clear out abandoned stores, they will come across rival groups, etc, etc. The only character I'm curious about is Strand. Why was he in the quarantine area? Is he ill? If so, with what? He had a very clear strategy about how to get out, almost like he knew what was about to happen. But beyond him, the rest of the are pretty "meh". I will watch S2 and hopefully it will surprise me like TWD does. |

Even now, as the situation was depicted in E6, the military should have no problem eliminating roving herds of walkers. And enemy with no intelligence, whose weapons are teeth and who move slower than regular people just isn't going to win in the long run versus an equipped, intelligent force who can pick most of their battles. Maaaybe. It feels that way but I'm not sure about that. It's clear LA is pretty hosed, but could we still hear an address from the President or see a semi-functional government in retreat? Safe zones on a much bigger scale than we've seen on TWD? See what a limited but functional communication system does for people? I think there's still room for a different status quo than we see in TWD. |

The live ratings averaged 7.61 million viewers for the season. That's the highest cable show out there besides TWD. It isn't in any danger at all. Most scripted cable shows never pass 3-4 million. Anything over that is extremely extremely EXTREMELY safe. Even if FTWD was hitting 3 million it would STILL be safe. AMC doesn't have anything else with Breaking Bad, Mad Men gone and Hell ON Wheels about to wrap. |
