I laugh at all of the Gimple hate. It's as if he is the only person writing, directing and making decisions for the entire show. Everyone has a job to do and it can't all fall on one person. And people seem to forget that this show blossomed with Gimple at the helm. The fact that he gets no credit for that and all of the blame for the last couple of seasons is ridiculous. There needs to be some consistency to that argument. I think Gimple is a very good writer. I do think TWD needs a new person in charge of how they tell the story because Gimple does have a certain style that has gotten repetitive over the last couple of seasons. When you have a show go 10 plus seasons, change is needed to keep the show fresh or at least attempt to keep the show fresh.

Very subtlety. The 'Before' and 'After' segments are similar to TWD's 'Then' and 'Now' elements from Season 5. The Negan-esque characterization of Mel and the Vultures being like Saviors. Granted it's nothing that'll terribly ruin the show as that hasn't occurred.

Right? It seems people have forgotten that Gimple has written some of The Walking Dead's very best episodes in the series (Save The Last One, Pretty Much Dead Already, 18 Miles Out, Clear, This Sorrowful Life, The Grove, A, No Sanctuary, What Happened and What's Going On, Here's Not Here, etc).

Also, people need to calm the eff down jumping on the show saying it's "terrible" and "Gimple ruined it." Like, do they not know there are 14 more hours left to tell this season? Give the damn show a chance.

Interesting you say that, because, yeah... I thought I was watching a clone of TWD in ep2.

Boring flashback style which will clearly drag on for several more episodes, and which was done to a lesser standard than in the parent show (where it is also annoying).

And of course the introduction of ̶N̶e̶g̶a̶n̶ the vultures.

That scene where Alicia is suddenly confronted by that crazed woman with the gun pointed at her and does not take any evasive action at all (in fact leaves her auto pointed at the ground and simply calmly talks to her) was terrible. Alicia was not rattled by her possible impending and immediate death at all. Bad writing or bad acting or both?

Also Madison as GI Jane jumping into a vat of zombies to save a stranger was lame on every level. By Walking Dead standards that was almost certain death by a bite. Meaning it was a lose lose situation to jump in even if she did feel heroic. It also goes against her previous characterisation as the cold blooded mother hen who would let nothing separate her from or potentially endanger her kids..

The flashback immediately reminded me of TWD but it didn't bother me here. If something can be told in an interesting and meaningful way at a good speed then I am flexible and open to giving it a chance. If we start getting ridiculous CGI explosions out of no where.. then I'll have a problem, looking at you TWD.

OK, not reading anything! I can't watch the second episode of season 4. On the AMC app, I get to, and through, the first commercial break, then it goes back to the recap instead of continuing the episode! Very frustrating. I'll have to find other means to watch it.

My first thought exactly. I just slogged through two years of All Out Bore on TWD. I don't need a repeat on FTWD.

Well, that death made zero sense. I don't know what they're doing.

Apparently,
[Show spoiler]it was Frank's decision to leave. A decision that came during Season 3. They needed time to "wrap up his story."

Woah. Sad that the character is gone, but I don't blame the actor for wanting off the show so he can do other things. He's in his prime now and his notoriety from Fear will allow him to take advantage of a ton of opportunities.

This is the first time in months that I actually watched "Talking Dead" immediately after the episode.

Definitely didn't expect that either. As mentioned on talking dead, it was the person's decision to leave the show. I can't blame them but shows that this person had no sense of responsibility to the fans who thought the character was integral to the show. Wonder if it was actually a money disagreement.

From the episode, it seemed to try to lead us to believe that
[Show spoiler]Madison is dead, likely killed by Ennis
. I was surprised talking dead didn't want to bring it up at all. It kind of explains why they added a bunch of new characters all of a sudden in morgan, dharma, maggie grace, and cowboy hat guy. They had a bunch of freed up salary to spend and fill the unplanned cast void. Or perhaps lead up to a merging with TWD?

And although I am upset about the departure, I have actually been enjoying this season so far, like I haven't been doing for a while with both series, even with all the stupid, unrealistic writing involved now more than ever.

I read a Hollywood Reporter article on the reason behind tonight's character death, and one of the showrunners stated something along the lines of
[Show spoiler]"...we see Nick surrounded by what's left of his family as he dies."
That leads me to believe that
[Show spoiler]Madison is indeed dead.
But who knows? Guess we'll have to wait and see to confirm.

They could just be referring to the fact that
[Show spoiler]Nick's dad passed away before the apocalypse and Travis is gone.

So, Nick is dead? Initially I was surprised but then it cut to a scene that looked like it was in the present of him laying there and it ended that way. The way that these episodes are formatted is really hard to follow for me, not liking it very much. It was a good episode but too much back and forth for my liking.

Why does the group care so much about this little girl anyway? It feels like they are breaking their backs to find her and make her come back and like them all.
