You're on the wrong website if you want to preach streaming, and you will forever be involved in long pointless arguments on this website until you learn that!

Edit: You seem like a smart guy (when you're not preaching the benefits of streaming to people who don't care that is) who has a lot of knowledge about this kind of stuff, so instead of wasting your time arguing with everyone forcing your opinions on them, why don't you put that knowledge to good use and use your time here to help people and give them advice when they need it. Does it really matter that not everyone sees streaming the way you do or will never be interested in it to the same extent as you?
How old are you? You seem to get into a lot of worthless fights with members here trying to control people and tell them what they can and can't like and what they need to do, get a life and focus on your own issues. You also don't know how to properly engage people and articulate your point without turning into a immature brat. So take a break from this website for a few days and maybe turn off the bluray player and let it cool down and do something else.

I can't and not only that, I don't want to have to store them. But to watch them, I won't die if they aren't BD quality, especially if its on my phone and also some are in HD that are not available on BD. So if you'd rather watch SD than HD, that is truly confusing. One thing is for sure, their quality continues to get better.
I'm not missing any point. I have no desire to watch 51k movies/tv shows, perhaps only a fraction of that. So buying/storing is not even a factor here.
I'll admit streaming is very beneficial for content not yet available on BD/dvd, and for people that travel frequently. For me, it has very little to no value.

Judging someone by their avatar kind of goes against what you just said in this post:

Thank's rick88, I was actually thinking the same thing. Oppo just demonstrated his immaturity by showing he is still pissed about the other month when I had a go at him for trying to force his thoughts and picking on member naturephoto1 for buying expensive cables in the hdmi cable thread.

For the record Oppo, I wasn't arguing with Slick, I was merely stating what's the point of arguing about streaming vs blu-ray when this is a blu-ray site. As for your statement about me apparently getting in arguments with everybody, well that's just an over exaggeration. I've been a member here for a year and have been in about 5 disagreements that got a little out of hand from all parties involved. If you look through every Netflix thread on this site you will see that that's far less than Slick has with other members. Based on your comment Oppo I actually think you need to take a few days break from here, not me!

Seems your're still upset I exposed your lack of knowledge of American history and our way of life...I ended up getting PM's from a member who agreed with me. I think that thread is still saved for a good laugh.

But you do a lot of arguing on here and go to extreme lenghs to justify it. Now if we can get the moderators here to post how many hours a day we are on this site I would bet you're on here a lot more than I am. I usually check in sometimes once week most often but when it comes to people like you I like to log in to expose frauds like you.

More proof you take your membership here and this website too seriously:

, how delusional are you. American history? You talked about health care etc in an hdmi thread for no reason and carried on about why you think the U.S health system is better than Australia's, and when I tried to say have you actual been to Australia, you didn't answer the question and got all patriotic. Most of our argument was deleted from that thread, but I wish the mod's could post it all back up for everyone to see because you didn't expose anything except that you were a hypocrite for saying that I didn't know anything about your health system, when you clearly knew nothing about Australia's and our history. I'm sure the PM you got was from an American member who probably know's nothing about Australia's health system either.

For sure I would be on here more than you, I generally stay logged in all the time either on my phone, work or home computer, because I like this site, what's wrong with that? but I'm just logged in, I'm not browsing or posting all that time. Like everyone else here if I see something I disagree with I reply, that's generally how a public forum works. I don't think it's my god given mission at all, you just though you had a right to pick on naturephoto1 in the hdmi thread and I said "it's none of your business because it's his money, and he can spend it on what he wants' and Mod John actually agreed with the comment I made telling you that it's not really any of your business!

At the end of the day your 1st comment towards me in this thread today was uncalled for, and you started something between us that didn't need to be started in the 1st place! You were the 1 who got personal, I should be asking you your age!

Btw if you are logging in and seeking out members posts just for the sake of it, because you think you are exposing them for being a fraud (your words not mine) in some way, then it sounds like you are the 1 who needs to get a life!

Actually I was having a discussion with another member about Monster cables that were being over priced at retail stores with 99% of members here agree and you started attacking me out of the blue and I said I had a right to give my opinion and you started talking trash about the U.S. and bashing the U.S. and didn't care about our laws and I just called you out on your ignorance and I said you never been to the U.S... which you never have. Then I exposed the fact you sit around all day online obsessing over everything American after you criticize the U.S. lol what integrity eh?

And no, you don't know anything about the U.S. since you're not a well traveled individual, there are such things as passports, but in order to travel and educate yourself you'll need to get off your computer and not waste all day fighting about things that have no meaning in life.

No, most people here aren't like you, they don't obsess like you do and sit around all day fighting about the most insignificant things trying to get the last word like a little brother who can't admit when he's wrong. This website is obviously your life and means so much to you, your posts prove it with your indignance to "defend" people you feel are being picked on. And if you don't like what I say here then what are you going to do about it? Go run to the mods? "waa waaaa oppo is bothering me!! waa waaaa!" haha

lol Now go waste another half an hour typing out a long paragraph trying to win a argument at a website. lol

No, you said something about people like naturephoto1 who buy expensive cables would want to have their health insurance paid for 1st before they waste money on expensive cables, then I said something small and harmless about Australia having free public health care back to you, then you just filled up 2 thread pages full of crap about health care. You were making just as many ignorant comments about Australia and our health care system when you haven't been here or to 1 of our hospitals, but for some reason you seem to think that was all right for you to judge my country, but I couldn't do the same to yours. That's called being a hypocrite!

I certainly didn't attack you, so stop trying to play the innocent victim. In fact my original comment that I made is still in the hdmi cable thread (post # 1850), it wasn't deleted because it wasn't inappropriate unlike your reply, and if other members can be bothered to go and have a look they will noticed that Mod John also agreed with my reply to your comment (post # 1851) in that thread a couple of months ago.

For some reason you seem to think that just because I defended naturephoto1 that I agree with his opinion about expensive hdmi cables, when I don't, I actually agree with you. What I had a problem with was you attacking him over something that was ultimately his decision as it was his money he was spending, not yours, and he's got the right to spend his money on whatever he wants without you calling him an idiot!

You're certainly good at assuming things and thinking you know me aren't you, how do you know what I do or where I've travelled in life? Are you an Internet stalker? I certainly know based on your ignorant comments from the other month that you haven't ever been to Australia that's for sure

No, most people here aren't like you, they don't obsess like you do and sit around all day fighting about the most insignificant things trying to get the last word like a little brother who can't admit when he's wrong. You sure do pride yourself on being the worlds biggest know it all. You talk about me arguing with people, all anyone needs to do is go and look in the 'vote yes for power protection' thread to see that you are the king of starting arguments with members, and are extremely rude for no reason when you don't agree with someone.

I always want to get in the last word lol, show me 5 examples where I've done that just for the sake of it? I can show examples where you have, and the only time you ever shut up is when someone stops replying or they are right, but you never have the decency to apologise for your rudeness or admit when you are wrong. There are plenty of posts where people have replied to something I've said that I don't reply back to cause I forget, or can't be bother etc, but again this is a public forum. Btw my working schedule and how often I am or am not on here is none of your business, again you think it's your right to stick your nose where it doesn't belong, just like the other month!

This website is obviously your life and means so much to you, your posts prove it with your indignance to "defend" people you feel are being picked on. And if you don't like what I say here then what are you going to do about it? Go run to the mods? "waa waaaa oppo is bothering me!! waa waaaa!" haha

It sounds like you're the only 1 having a cry, I didn't realise that you took things so personally the other month, clearly you have an issue with anyone who talks back to you, tells you off or defends someone when your being a loud mouth jackass who thinks just because we have freedom that it gives you the right be a prick! Are you the boss where you work, because that's usually how stuck up bosses who have let their jobs go to their head behave! It's amusing how you talk tough over a computer, but I guarantee if we ever met in person you wouldn't say a word!

The funniest thing is that you were trying to do exactly the same in this thread by defending Slick against something I said as I did in the hdmi thread against something you said to Naturephoto1 the other month, maybe you should practice what you preach! Same goes for you, if you don't like the things that I say then tough luck!

FYI I've never complained to any Mod about anyone or anything on here!

lol Now go waste another half an hour typing out a long paragraph trying to win a argument at a website. lol
Maybe I shouldn't have replied because it would have been you who got in the last word lol. Though I'm sure you will reply back anyway.

Streaming is a replacement for TV programming/DVRs. Its a huge library, on demand. I don't blind buy my Blu-rays. I like to see what I am getting first. So if blind buy every movie, I can see where it has little value. But if you have cable and use On Demand, its the same thing, and you do.

Forget trying to get this thread on topic SB. I think if I had one complaint with Netflix, it would be the turn around time on getting BD's out. Although I know there are some folks out there who have it worse than me in certain areas. If it weren't for we don't go out as much as we used to because of our little guy, I'd probable be like AF and cancel my BD subscription and go strictly to streaming. Not because it is better, but because I barely have time to watch the things I get some times.

Turn around for me was 2 days since the facility is in metro Atlanta. They got the disc in the AM after I sent it, and out that day.

I don't blind buy my BDs either, never said I did. The crux of this debate was streaming vs. disc rental, you keep changing the story around. I use Netflix, solely for disc rentals. No stream that Netflix puts out matchs a blu-ray disc in: PQ, AQ, and bonus content. Until it does, I'll always be a disc rental person.
As a previous poster mentioned, the biggest impact to the Netflix disc rental service is the USPS dropping next day mail...and to a lesser extent Saturday delivery. Like you, I live next to the hub in Gaithersburg, so now those 2 day turn arounds will be 3 day turn arounds.
So to sum up: IMO - Stream = uselss, Disc Rental = the way to go.

And for millions, including many on here, its not. NetFlix steams content that not only isn't on BD, its not even on DVD. I watched some streaming content last week only available on VHS... if you could find it.

For those millions great! It's just that you feel the need to sell ME on streaming, which is what I don't understand....
And I've already mentioned, previously, that people can get content only available via streaming that may no be available via current physical mediums. So yes, thank you for reiterating my point.
This thread is about Netflix turning it's focus back to disc, not about streaming. There are other threads for that in this site.

NetFlix didn't turn its focus back to disc at all. The title is completely wrong and misleading. If they did that, they would have boosted the amount of titles they offer in Blu-ray and add more copies of popular moves. They have done neither. All they did was didn't split it off into a separate company. But they did keep the two separate when it comes to services, so eventually it will be easier when they drop discs or sell it off.

And don't flatter yourself. I don't feel the need to sell you anything.

All they did was didn't split it off into a separate company. But they did keep the two separate when it comes to services, so eventually it will be easier when they drop discs or sell it off.

And don't flatter yourself. I don't feel the need to sell you anything.
I don't need to flatter myself, I get that elsewhere...yet you keep bringing up, to me, the benefits of streaming? Your endgame?
And yes, Netflix did turn it's focus back to disc, by splitting the 2 services...which is what this thread is about.
I can't speak for every Netflix disc subscriber, but I've seen several movies I've had stashed in my queue as dvd upgraded to blu-ray. Granted not nearly the amount I would prefer, but that's out of my hands. With over 100 BD's in my queue, at any given time, I have an unending(at least for the forseeable future) supply of BDs at my disposal.
That is where I am with everything concerning Netflix, the rest is just specualtion by: media outlets, stock analysts, and forum members.
