Actually, by virtue of ^^this message, you don't. I could type pages, and yes you'd read, but you wouldn't digest....that much has been proven over the last several posts.
I have no horse in this race, so I couldn't care less...but hey, it's a free msg board and everyone has a right to their own opinion.

You could not care less but you jump into a discussion and voice your opinions. Why comment? You have the audacity to tell me what i can and cannot see with my own eyes.

Your eyes told you that dvd(480 lines) is better than Netflix HD streaming(ranging from 720 to 1080 lines depending on ISP), then you told everyone on this thread that dvd was better.
So yes, I do have the audacity. Were I you, I'd go visit the nearest eye doctor...provided you can see where you're going. That's just friendly advice.

Lines of resolution is irrelevant when talking about compression. I would rather watch a well compressed SD image than a highly compressed HD image. Its all about the compression. Even cable and sat here have decent bitrates. Far better than the streaming you are watching.

Nothing wrong with my eyesight. i have great vision.

This is why I qualified my initial response as it would be a waste of time for me to explain this to you. You only excel at one thing: tossing out general statments with no facts...short of "I have great vision"
Btw, when traveling to the eye doctor(hopefully the UK has a few good ones near you) be sure to remove your blinders.

No offense, but you were not funny the first time. That is something i expect to hear from a teenager. Maybe the lack of a detailed response is for the best. Now you get back to your projected compression orgy and i will get back to my plasma, spoiling it with HD from Satellite and of course Bluray.

None taken....I wasn't trying to be.
Again you make, this time, wrong statements: I don't have a projector, I have a Panasonic Plasma...just like you! I also get my OTA content....wait for it....wait for it....from Directv....JUST LIKE YOU. And had you read my previous post, you'd know that I dropped Netflix streaming because I never used it that much. It's becoming more & more apparent that comprehension is not your strong suit.
I'm not the one who has been "called out" by(at least) three forum members on making general statements with no factual references, short of:
My eyes, my plasma are #1.
Gee you really got me there. Keep watching upconverted dvds in all their 480 lines of resolution. Clearly it makes you happy.
Now if you would like to respond with something that has hard facts associated with it, I'm looking forward to it...until then I'm sure I'll get another: "I know you are but what am I" responses.

Someone else jumping in. Don't tell me you are a tv technician with 20/20 vision and you also worked in the dvd authoring business? Save it for later guys. I love bluray, i do not like streaming. That sums it up really.

And there's nothing wrong with stating YOUR opinion which is exactly what you JUST did. Earlier you were making general statements that encompassed more than just yourself.
"Someone else jumping in"....kinda lends credence to the off chance you were erroneous in your earlier posts, doesn't it?
Hopefully you've learned something today....or else I really did waste my time.

It is not really an opinion about streaming or dvd/bluray. Rather an insult to my intelligence. As an accountant I am hardly lacking in brain matter or money. so do not try to put me down.

There's no need for me to "try and put you down", you've handled that well enough on your own.
I'm just wondering how you type so well with your foot, firmly inserted, in your mouth...but I guess you're good at multi-tasking.
Now had I just said the previous sentence, that would be considered a put down....but I'm not going to go there.
I think you can deduce the bottom figure here: How can so many be wrong yet you're right....Hmmmm. Crunch those numbers a bit.

I have put myself down by expressing my feelings towards streaming? Not at all. Your juvenile comments say more about you than me. Feeling inferior are we?

Oh yes sir, I'm feeling very inferior. You so got me there....gosh darn!
Keep making general statements with no factual backup, and then wonder why everyone jumps all over you.
Again, I don't need to do much in this little banter...you're quite adept at shooting yourself in the foot.
But at least you have good eyes! So there is hope.

Stating that i find it more tolerable to watch a well compressed dvd than a hugely compressed hd image is what this is all about. Now being a bluray fan you know i will always go with a pristine image. If this just about resolution you would be correct in your stance. I am also aware of the codecs involved as well. I am saying to you i see less compression compared to the streaming option. That means backgrounds etc.. I am bothered by pixelation. I seem to notice it easily. Now i realise even bluray has compression but if ot is not obvious then it aint an issue. I am a purist and i like my hd quality to be top notch. Not (in my opinion) some fake hd that breaks up with virtually any demanding scene, such as night scenes or explosions. That is the point i am trying to make.

Again, there is nothing wrong with that statement...as it's your opinion. If you recall I actually agreed with you waaaay back in the beginning until you started with the "Streaming = Doomsday" scenerio. Then more recently, just making general statements vs. opinions that can be construed as misinformation by some.
Look, I don't think anyone on this thread doubts you are a BD fan! Heck, just by virtue of being here on blu-ray.com, I think, automatically makes one a BD fan. I just happened to take some minor offenses to the general statements you were throwing out earlier, that's all. As I was saying in another thread, I try to make a habit of inserting "IMHO"...I view it as the ultimate disclaimer. How can someone argue another's opinion, right?
As I mentioned a short while ago, I just cancelled my Netflix streaming since I wasn't using it that much...so I really don't have a horse in this race.
So, now you know I'm quite like you in that: I have plasma, OTA content via satellite provider, love blu-ray.
