So this implies that you do care a little!
Not I...I cancelled my streaming service and saved $3/month on my 3-disc plan...WIN! I think the reports about Netflix were blown a little out of proportion. I can't be certain, but I thought that the price breakdown for disc rentals between Netflix/BB is comparable. And now that Netflix has hiked streaming rates, it seems everyone thinks poorly of the service(poor selection, etc) so I don't understand what the big deal is.
Basically Netflix is just splitting the 2 services. If anything people should feel good about getting such a great deal(disc rental/streaming) for a period of time.
Like anything in life, all good things can(and will) come to an end! It's inevitable.

In actuality it looks like this new plan will help me......

You can put 6 devices on each streaming account.... so rather than keeping my three accounts "as is" I'm just going to keep the streaming on one of them, and setup everyone for our streaming account..... I pay for all three anyways, so their higher prices will cost me less I guess

So, we've established that you don't watch DVDs and you don't watch Netflix streaming, so you have no basis for your original statement that DVD has better quality than Netflix streaming. I'm glad we can finally put that issue to bed.

You watch Netflix on a projector? Ouch!!
No, you've really had a lot of trouble keeping up with the conversation here. I did a comparison on my projector, because it is (obviously) a much more revealing display. In practical use, I generally only use Netflix streaming for TV episodes on my 37" LCD. My projector is almost exclusively used for Blu-ray and gaming.

I said 'anymore'. I have watched hundreds of dvds in the past however. I was referring to new buys to be honest. Should have said so.

If you do not watch Netflix on a projector, why not? Maybe you think the quality is trash?

Yet you still haven't done a one-to-one comparison to back up your claims and until you do, your stated opinion carries very little weight. The only thing you've made clear is that you have an odd, paranoid aversion to streaming which motivates your unfounded claims about Netflix quality.

This is the last time I'm going to explain my position on the relative quality of various formats. It's really not very complicated:
-- Blu-ray is better than all Netflix streaming.
-- Netflix HD streaming is generally better than DVD and far from "trash."

I don't watch Netflix streaming on my projector, because I have a large backlog of Blu-rays, which are obviously preferable for my dedicated home theater. Of course, I'll watch those BDs on my projector before I stream something. However, the quality of Netflix streaming is not "trash" and there's really no other way I can state it so that you will understand. Streaming has its place as a rental service and can easily co-exist with physical media for years to come.

FWIW, I think this may be a temporary solution here:

Streaming cannot even get horizontal panning right. The movement often causes a stutter. That is on a 20 mbps broadband connection. Watching a movie this way is just wrong in my opinion.

Actually because you disagree with everyone...and everyone's valid points!
As I mentioned to you previously: don't you find it strange that everyone else is wrong, but you're right.
It reminds me of an old saying:
If you're having trouble trying to spot the sucker, while glancing around the poker table, odds are the sucker is YOU!

Edit: And yes I thought it was pretty funny.

I just signed up last week. So far I have viewed two films Ip Man 2 and (Untitled). I just switched my account to 2 dvds out at a time blu-ray added got rid of the streaming since I would probabley never use it.

Where did you hear that you can put 6 devices on each account? I was wondering if two people can watch from the same account at once, does anyone know? I just have the unlimited streaming option too btw. thanks guys

I wasn't paying much attention when I typed that. I think that it's not a good deal, although it is good for some people that they have split their services. I remember when netflix was faster. When I first started netflix I was on the one DVD at a time plan, and I would get 3-4 discs a week. Now I'm lucky if I get two. There is no point in my keeping the DVD plan that I have now. I could keep the streaming option because I use it to watch some TV shows, and Criterions, but I'm mad about the direction the company is taking, so I am going to cancel both options, and either keep Hulu+, or start a Blockbuster online account. Maybe both.

I guess the bottom line in all this, is that it's good to have options! Some choose Netflix, others choose Blockbuster, other choose Hulu, etc etc.
The more options there are, the more one can find a service that suits them most favorably.
As I said, my 3-disc plan just works great for me. Maybe it's location as I'm geographically close to a hub(Gaithersburg MD), and thusly get a very fast response time. Not to mention that every once in awhile, they send a 4th disc at no extra charge...just because it's coming from a different facility. My only beef with Netflix is I'm not seeing any of the 30+ discs I have saved in my queue being upgraded to BD. When I know all of them are available on BD. IMO, that's a small inconveinence after looking at the bigger picture.(no pun intended)

I don’t get it. You have an issue with people calling Netflix streaming trash but you admit that you don’t watch it on your projector and are forced to use a 37” display. To me that is the definition of trash if it is not good enough for what it is meant to be used with, I am in no mood to go buy a smaller TV just so that I can pretend that it is watchable.

Do you wear a suit to cut the lawn? Why not, if it's not good enough for you to do work in, it must be trash. See where this is going?
