whats the difference between the version you can buy at the PSN and the one you can buy in stores and online besides the fact the one at the PSN is $39.99 and the stores is $59.99?

2nd. I joined two games. After 2 minutes in the first game of Capture the Flag, my entire PS3 froze. Even the PS button wouldn't work. Had to hold the power button to get a re-boot. 2nd game, 2 minutes in (couldn't find anybody to shoot) the game totally froze again. What's the deal? Anybody else have this going on? It's late so I'm giving up for now (probably shouldn't have tried it out right before bed.)

If I still have this problem tomorrow, I'm calling Sony and demanding my money back.
CYMBOL- I had the same problem, and I posted it yesterday. I was able to play a bunch more games fine afterwards, so I think it had to do with the hosts dropping or something. The Blue games never freeze on me, nor do the ones I create. I didn't notice it on any of the white games after the first few times either. If it keeps happening, maybe re-download and re-install... but it will probably go away like mine did.

And for the first matter-- I read that too. I was going to ask:

Is this game in TRUE 1080p? WHY does it DEFAULT to 720p? Now I have to turn THAT off to play a game in it's correct resolution.

Also-- is that the same for DIRT? I know this game is 1080p, and it is also coming up as 720p.

So are we supposed to disable 720/1080i when playing 1080p games from now on? And put them back on when we're not?

I havent tried user rooms yet, but the Sony one I joined was great.

If thats not it, you may just have a bad disk like Bluray movies that lock up? You might just want to swap for a new one. Or try the download.

I didnt notice whether my game was running at 720 or 1080, but ill check tonight.
Alright, I'll try the "Blue" rooms. (Not sure what I tried last night.) I downloaded the game, so it's not a disc problem. All my other downloaded games work fine. Thank you very much for the advice. I really hope that is the only issue.

Mine went to 720p. Usually, if a game is 720p, my T.V. will go to 720p (like VF5). But any game I have that is 1080p is always 1080p, as well as movies. Any ideas why Warhawk would display at 720p only?

Anybody else have this issue with Warhawk displaying 720p? Is it just me? What could be wrong? (It still looks decent, but if it will display 1080p, that's what I want.)

Thanks again, everybody.

You get a headset from the "store" bought one. (Kind of wish I had done that now).

Thanks for the response.

Looks like I definately need to try the "Blue" rooms.

I don't remember what DIRT displayed.

Hope someone can help with the resolution issue. . . . cause I have no clue and really want 1080p when it is supposed to be displayed.

Take it easy,

I'm pretty sure if you disable 720p/1080i on the PS3 settings-- it will display in 1080p.

Games really need to have their own video settings in them.

Anyone know a way to get it in 1080p WITHOUT doing this?

My guess is Warhawk supports upscaling for those with 1080i-only tv's and if your display settings are set for that it'll upscale but otherwise it's not worth the extra processing if your tv's capable of taking the native 720p res and upscaling itself.

So Warhawk is actually 720p native? It did say it "supports" up to 1080p, so that may just mean it will play it in. Then the 1080i image would probably look alot worse?

The thing that I don't understand is why DIRT would do this too-- because I KNOW that game is 1080p.

Best turn of phrase to describe Warhawk so far..

"But it's also confoundingly brilliant"

So who actually has this title now and has impressions to post?

I've been holding off on it because multiplayer first person shooters aren't usually my cup of tea, but I'll consider it if it's really good.

Found this...Taken directly from PS Blog:

There have been a lot of questions about upscalling and overscan…just one of the many issues that we are faced with this generation.
We did take this in account when developing Warhawk though.
Warhawk *does* 1080i upscale for those of you who have HD tvs that fall into the 720p–>480p/i category. We still render 720p, but at least the game scans-out to 1080i so you aren’t forced to play at 480.

Yes, it's not 1080p at all. 720p native and upscales for the 1080i/480p users.

read the last two pages of this thread, there are plenty

(*Note the one where I say how I'm not a big FPS person either, but love Warhawk)

I see. Would have been a lot less confusing if they did not "specifically" say "up to 1080p" in the download description.

Still looks good at 720p (which most games do), just wanted to make sure.

Still, they need to fix the description in the download area.

I wonder if the "box" game also says, 1080p. Anybody know?

Alright, I tried the Blue rooms and no freezes. Still, I hope I can visit other areas without having the issue everytime.

I'll try and play it more tonight.

Like I said before, I wish I had bought to "Box" version, and gotten the headset, also, I wouldn't mind a booklet with some instructions. Just FYI, for those debatting which to get.

Take it easy,

Answer Candidly:
1. Are there many other players yet? What's the most you've seen (approx.)?
I was on almost all night last night, and there were a lot of rooms. Lots of big games, lots of small games. I even messed with the filters to see how many of each type of game (Deathmatch, Team DM, Capture the Flage, Zones) were being played. There were a lot! I could basically find a game that fit any one of my needs at any time without having to make a match myself. Although I tried that too, and man is it easy!

Finally, a game on the PS3 that has a server menu! I'm in online heaven!

Quote:
2. What is the learning curve? Follow-up - would you consider yourself a "hardcore gamer"?
The learning curve is kind of interesting in this game. It's really easy to pick up and play, I just wouldn't suggest doing that in ranked servers. The controls are real easy to understand, but harder to master. This mostly applies to the Warhawk itself, which I am still learning. The controls though are spot on, and any errors I have made with the Warhawk were because of my own dumb self an dnot because of a bad control issue.

I would not consider myself a hardcore gamer by the way. I suck bad at Resistance, but fair really well on RB6. This game is easy for me to pick up but will take some time for me to lear how to properly use the warhawk.

Quote:
3. What game would you compare this to? (Gameplay, graphics, etc.)
I don't really know, maybe Tribes on the PC? Much better graphics of course, but similar. I never played Battlefield, but I heard it's close to that one. The graphics are interesting, you wouldn't look at them and say wow these are the best graphics ever, yet they still catch your eye and make you say "awesome" once in a while.

Quote:
4. If you downloaded the game, do you wish you had gotten the headset now? If you got the box/headset, do you wish you had just downloaded it?
I had the exact headset that comes with this game for quite some time, so no. It works flawlessly with the game by the way. I'm glad I downloaded it, saved me $20 in my eyes. The issue with sub account users not being able to play it should be noted though. Not and issue for me, but is for many users.

5. First impressions in 5 words or less.
This game is ****ing intense.

Pardon the language, but those are the actual words I said after my first 16v16 match. Watching many many explosions all around me and hearing a Warhawk buzz over my head is just an amazing experience. This game looks/sounds/plays amazingly. All this without a single trace of lag. A true AAA in my eyes.
