the wrentch is awesome, i was being shot at by the big gunthings on the base, my tanks life would go down to half id jump out fix it then blow up the gun. Then i was being shot at by a warhawk and used the bio field and destroyed the warhawk because he couldnt kill me.

Copy, although I have not gotten around to playing with the 1.3 update, I thought Dylan mentioned in one of his announcements that you could select the knife, or mines again by double tapping in the direction of the item in inventory.

The two weapon additions were also nicely integrated into the gameplay, with the wrench and the bio-field replacing the knife and land mines respectively when collected. To switch back to those items, you simply needed to double tap the D-pad in the direction of the item you wanted. The wrench comes with 400 points of "ammo," and can be applied to heal any vehicle by striking the side of a machine you're standing next to. Conversely, you can use the wrench to slowly break enemy vehicles apart by hitting them with the tool, and its surprisingly effective as a stealth attack against damaged gear.

The 1.3 patch was scheduled for today, April 2nd and is a required download when you launch Warhawk. However, the expansion pack is not due until the 17th.

Yeah, I did that, but my knife didn't come out. Might have been just my controller (needs a charge).

I just got home and plan on playing for a little bit tonight.

Yeah. He created a game and when I logged in like 90 seconds after that, he had mined the planes and was sitting on top of the base with a TOW. About 5 deaths later I got in the air.

I decided that I'd give him a taste of his own medicine, so I stayed in your base mining planes and areas over and over. Think I got like 20 kills and then I decided to take to the skies and do some more damage.

He's a friend though, so I wasn't too mad. I don't mind people mining vehicles, as it's a good tactic. However, doing so before the other team can log in is a bit low.

However, I know why he did it. He didn't want me getting in the air, because I'll kill him over and over. So, I can't blame him.

It was good fun and I'm always happy to play with him.

I think this new patch has introduced the "game full" bug again. I tried joining several games that were not yet maxxed out .. (i.e. 22/24, 30/32 etc) and kept getting the "game full" message.

It could just be that the update has brought a lot of players back to try out the new stuff, as a result I would expect it to be far more difficult to join a server right now, it is probably contributing a lag issue in updating server numbers.

so far im really happy with the update, theres still a few levels where i wasnt able to find the stuff I had to kill people and take it from them but have no idea where they got it from.

I just played for about 4 hours. I like the open mic option, but I had to mute some people, because their mic was just static.

My first wrench kill was a tank with 2 guys. When I grabbed the enemy flag earlier, I jumped in a friendly tank and started using the wrench to keep him alive. It was great until a cluster of stuff came at us.

I think that's the new tactic. You bring a 2nd guy to repair when RLs and nades hit.

The new paint jobs are nice too.

Yeah the open mic was annoying, muted 2 people in that game. Buy flying around with Copy is fun, just make sure you haven't eaten in 30mins or you might get a little car sick

Seriously though, hell of a good time, just wish more Blu can members would get on, tons of fun!

i forgot about the new paint schems. I like the idea of an open mic but it dont work so well for this game, all you hear is a bizzz or somthing from people who have it on. I wish it were more like the open mic on burnout.

I didnt have time to DL the update last night but I will be very disappointed if the music has changed after I DL it tonight I'm still not sure about this bio-field thing. I haven't played with it yet but I already don't like it! I think the wrench was a great idea though.

Wrench - Everything I had hoped for and more!
Bio-field Generator - not living up to the hype as an offensive device.

Paints/skins/icons- Not bad! Who-ray for diversity!
Open-Mic - Please just shut it off or tone down the sensitivity level... I muted so many people

Vektar and I were taking each other out while the servers were updating to the greatness that is 1.3. Then hit up some ranked servers for some small map rampages. I played straight from when I got home until about 7:30pm. Funny thing is that right after I logged Copy decided to show up to the party... Fashionably late, Old Chap?

I thought I would explain a few things out of observation.

Host Options:
The host now has the option to allow or disallow the wrench and bio thing.
The host now has a option to allow both teams to hear voice chat or not.

New Weapons:
Wrench it replaces the knife and has 400 charges each repair cost a little bit of its energy, once it runs out the knife replaces it.
Bio Field Generator it replaces the slot of prox mines and can be used as normal, there are 2 fields per pickup, if you have mines deploying the rest of the bio field will switch back to your prox mines.

Known strategic failures:
Bio Field has a small radius, and no one is going to be stupid enough to sit in
the field long enough to do any reasonable damage. A person dumped several of them in the base with the help of a team mate these fields even in small condensed areas are easily dodged.

I didn't get to play but 1 game, but I was reading some posts on the Warhawk thread on the PS forums and this guy was describing a tactic he saw:

1) Guy in tank
2) Guy in hatch of tank with a wrench (as you said)
3) Bio field generators stuck to all sides of tank so someone cannot get to it with a wrench or flame thrower.

Interesting. Seems the only way to take a tank out like that is with a bunch of people firing at it, or a TOW.

I like the new update. I played for about an hour last night. I didn't use the mines for offense. I find they work great for defense though. I set some up at the bridge and some behind me when I was sniping to cover my back in case somebody tried to sneak up on me.

The field generators do not have alot of charge on them.. I guess that could work.. hmm

I agree with 1 and 2 but usually you eventually run out of wrench.. I usually follow a tank in a jeep, through sometimes the concept of switching to the wrench has not yet become a reaction.
