I saw that on the E3 trailer! Very sweet, although my cheap friends will have to buy their own controllers.

Default Worried about Warhawk

Hey guys,

Got a question for you big online players out there. (The PS3 is my first foray into online gameplay.)

So, here it is:

1. Download or purchase. The download scares me. One - it takes my hard drive space up and I can't get it back unless I delete it and lose my purchase. (I have 60 gig and haven't heard how big this game will be). And if my hard drive crashes I lost my purchase. I'm thinking a disc purchase. Any thoughts?

2. This is my big one - if I buy the disc and it's only "online" play, does that mean in 3 years, if I want to play the "ol' Warhawk game" and only two people are online, that it's only the 3 of us playing? Or will the online play feature AI to help fill the gameplay. (I tried to play one on one Resistance, and we couldn't find each other half the time. We were shooting in the sky to find each other).

Anyway, this site rocks. Looking forward to hearing your opinions/suggestions. And please, correct me if I provided any misinformation, nobody should take my remarks as solid fact. I'm new to this and may have misunderstood what the game does, hence, the post.

Take it easy all,

1. I'm purchasing so I can get the rumored bundled bluetooth headset.
2. I doubt bots fill the rest of the players so it will be you and the 2 other people. If anyone on this site is in the beta they can probably answer better than I.

the PS store remembers your purchases....so you can re-download any game you please....

if you want, you can delete a game from your HD to create room for another.....and then bring it back if you want..

1. If you need to redownload the installer for Warhawk, just go to the PSN Store, click on the Download List tab at the top of the screen and you should be able to redownload from there (this works with any previously downloaded game).

2. Public and private servers can be made with various player min/max settings. As far as bots goes, I'm sure there will be addons to the game after "3 years" that will address such mods.

Download gets you the game sooner, but the BD version of the game comes with behind the scenes extras and a Jabra 25 Bluetooth wireless headset.

You have nothing to worry about if you decide purchase the download version of the game though. You are allowed to re-download anything that you have purchased off of PSN a maximum of 5 extra times for free.

Furthermore if you can further ensure that all of the content on your hard drive remains safe by purchasing an external USB hard drive to store periodic back ups of through the PS3's backup utility. This 320GB Western Digital drive would be perfect for doing so and wouldn't break the bank.

The added bonus of owning an external drive is that you could use it to exclusively keep all of your pictures, music, videos, and 60GB hard drive image backups while leaving your entire PS3 hard drive exclusively free for game downloads.

My guess is that Warhawk will be popular enough to maintain a strong following for years to come. The cool thing about it is that it can run exclusively from the PS3 by using the host's console as the server and thus will never go dead by Sony shutting down the official servers because of new games. The AI thing is an unknown variable, but in this age of DLC it's entirely possible that Sony could offer some sort of single player campaign for the game in the future.

If you get it on blu-ray, you can trade it in or get money back. And, you can take it round a mates and play it there (assuming he/she has a PS3).

I didn't know about the "redownload". Wow! Very informative. And makes downloading a little less worrisome.

That was why I was leaning towards the disc purchase myself, if the rumor is indeed true. But not sure how much I would use it. And with all the games and blu-ray movies coming out his holiday, saving the a few bucks here and there may be in order.

Ah yes, I hadn't thought of that. I'm sure if this thing takes off it will have updates and such for minor fees.

You all are so savvy, I knew I came here for a reason!

AFAIK (not tried yet), you can go over to your friends house if he has a PS3 - login using your network account id, download it to your friends PS3 and then you can play it there - you use up one of your downloads in the process. Not sure if he needs your password in the future to sign-in and play or exactly how that works yet.

I'm not clear yet if the re-download is tied to each machine (assume it is) so you can re-download to the same machine multiple times without using up your counts. When we get our second PS3 this is something that would be very handy..and that's the more likely use IMO.

You probably want to save a few download counts in case you get a second machine or a new machine in the future as I'm not sure how you get one of your counts back if your machine dies - or if you can.

P.S. The backup utility won't backup protected content AFAIK..I *assume* that means downloaded games. Which makes sense since you can re-download it and your backups would be faster as well.

(Bolds by Cymbol)

Has any one tried this and know if it works like that?

I'm always surprised by what the PS3 can do.
