haha. I wonder if we could do some type of kamikaze with it. LOL Send the plane into the enemy and bail out. Doubt it though. When you hit a mountain or building in the game while flying it switches to hover.

Me too.... the only thing that bugs me is that I think we are going to have to pay for the map and the jet packs will likely be specific to the map like the APC is to Broken Mirror.

The shot with 3 jetpacks in the air doing maneuvers was too cool. I'm not sure I am going to like the jetpacks with collection and capture the flag though. Looks like it is going to make it way too easy.

I hope this is the new music too. It sounds more upbeat than the last one. The last one made me depressed before the matches. Though if we get our own in game music then it's a moot point.

We are. It's in 1.5, I believe.

Warhawk has expanded again with Operation Fallen Star, a new pack that adds even more to the massive online vehicular combat title.

Available to download from PLAYSTATION Store (PS3), Operation Fallen Star gives you a new battlefield with ten fresh battle maps and a brand new "vehicle". This third addition to the Warhawk expansion pack family introduces the remote, forested Tau Crater – the site of a crashed Chernovan experimental warship containing invaluable experimental technology.

While the Chernovans try desperately to salvage their stricken ship, the Eucadians arrive to claim it for themselves. The landscape is littered with parts of the warship and the Chernovans have brought heavy duty salvaging equipment and a huge crane to lift large pieces of the wreckage – an ideal target for the Eucadians to capture, setting the scene for some epic battles for you to engage in.

This pack expands the player’s overall Warhawk experience with ten new Tau Crater battlefields – as well as the Icarus Mk. 1 Rocket Pack: a personal rocket pack that allows soldiers to soar above the fray, escape ground troops, enter the aerial realm of the Warhawks themselves and engage in radically new combat tactics. Use this new mode of transport for a fresh take on aerial combat in all new and existing Warhawk maps.

With thousands of online gamers playing Warhawk every day, Operation Fallen Star marks the perfect time to leave the comfort zone and join the battle in the air or on the ground.

While since they can be run into with a plane for a kill and be pursued by multiple people in jetpacks it will maintain a good balance. It will just require teamwork and communication.

We'll see. The dropship should have been "even" as well, but it just didn't work out - and I can't stand boards where the dropship can take the flag carrier back home while in a tank or jeep. It takes away that struggle of getting across the map on the ground. I really like that. Not sure if the "rocket" pack has infinite fuel. If it goes away after it's spent, (like the wrench) then it shouldn't affect CTF or Collection too much.

Guess we'll find out soon. I'm still confused if we are paying for the map seperately, or if it's included in the free booster pack.

Can anyone clarify?

Uh, what does that have anything to do with Warhawk?

Speaking of teamwork and communication, we really need a voiceless communication system similar to BF2 with the point and click with a few options, etc. If not full typing from the new controller thumbboard/BT keyboard.

Voice should be limited to chain of command type stuff.

Speaking of which, subdivision into squads (also like BF2) would be nice. I would suggest clans both for differentiation and to make clans relevent for everyone who just doesn't want some tribalism. It could also promote small/midsized clans instead of just the huge ones.

While if the past is any indication of the future then I think we can safely say that the map will be a paid extra. Since the jet pack is supposed to be new technology from a ship that crashed in the new map and all new maps come with a new vehicle then it is probably not part of the 1.5 update. Lets just hope I am wrong.

There isn't a free booster pack.

Patches are free but include new content.
Booster packs are paid-for.

The new map is part of this third booster pack.

They have made it a bit confusing by talking about the two in the "same breathe". Also, the commercial did little to provide clarification by showing updates for trophies and "free" updates for Hero Mode and Collection Mode - all while using the backdrop of the new map and rocket packs.

I'll be buying it, if the cost is near the same as the others - but it'd be nice to know one way or the other for sure. I'm a big fan of clarity.

The 1.5 patch contents are in the first post. All the other new stuff is part of Op: Fallen Star.

Strange that they don't mention the new, free Hero and Collection modes in the release statement - but show it in the video (as free).

Either way, I'm excited for next week!!!
