I was playing a game of Hero the other day - landed in a Zone and killed everyone and DID NOT take the Zone over. Everyone kept spawning, of course, totally defenseless - running at me swinging a knife while I blew them away with a rocket launcher or machine gun or jeep gun. They kept spawning with their pistols and knives. HAHAHAHAHAHA. When I wasn't the Hero anymore, I took their plane and left. Never did take over the zone, just got my 11 or so Hero kills and left.

Ok I have a few questions but FIRST Im happy to report I just put a 176 PT game Yes it was CTF BUT I personally stole the flag and brought it all the way back to the base by myself 4 times! hahaha.... I dont know wtf everyone else was doing but Ill take the points lol.

Now my main question is in regard to earning badges,ribbons, medals.

I see it says global requirements and IAR requirements. I know IAR is "in a round". My question is this... do you have to achieve BOTH global and IAR requirements to get the badge/ribbon/medal?

Is it one thing for a badge and another for a medal? Reason I ask is I have been getting badges for things I do IAR. But I havent gotten any medals and looking at the IAR requirements for those I have done a few of them. Such as capturing the flag 2 times IAR...I just did it 4 lol. So do the medals need BOTH the IAR AND global requirements to be achieved?

Also Im happy to report Im on well on my way to my goal of Chief Sergeant and all bandit badges by patch release. I am about 30 pts away from Sergeant right now (12xx pts) which would put me 1250 away from Chief Sergeant. And I only need another 10 bandit badges to have them all and for the most part those are "easy" if you just concentrate on doing the IAR requirements for them while you are playing.

Yes, there are requirements for both in a round and medal. The ribbons however, are just for how many you can do in a round. As for the medals, its the same thing as getting a badge, except you need a certain badge or ribbon to get it.

Look above the last bit. They not only need both the IAR and global, but like I said, certain medals, ribbons or badges must be achieved if you want to win the next medal.

Ok this is deja vu because I KNOW I type this post last night before I went to sleep and posted it. Yet its not here. Very weird.

Anyways.. I have a few questions.

How do you use the binoculars? I can zoom with R3 but I hit the fire button and nothing happens. What are they used for and how?

How do you use the lightning gun PROPERLY? Whenever I charge it up and fire it it doesnt kill anything even with a direct hit. I shot a troop with it and he just took some damage and ran away and then shot me down with a rocket launcher lol. The single shots with it dont seem accurrate or damaging either. Am I missing something with it?

What color are the air mine tokens for the Warhawk?

That should be it for now. I only need 3 badges for all my bandit badges (can you guess which ones? lol). And I need about 750 points for my Chief Sergeant rank. So looks like I shouldnt have a problem of hitting my goals for Thursday. Im averaging about 75pts per game now. Sometimes I only get like 30 but sometimes I get 130+ so it balances out.

There is a bar at the top of your point of view. You have to press and hold the button on your target and wait until the green bar on the top charges fully. When its charged, its doom for your opponent.

Normally the lightning gun is a rather weak weapon if you try to go for the troops. Its more of something for any nearby vehicles. If you use the normal lightning gun attack, you can destory an aircraft in 10 hits. Just get close enough to an aircraft and when the outer circle turns red, then is your time to attack.

What color are the air mine tokens for the Warhawk?

A kind of darker purple than the TOW missile.

Hold R1 - you'll see it charging - when it completes the charge it unleashes a powerful blast that can destroy pretty much anything - a tank, jeep, missle turret, several people standing close together. Great when the other team is huddles the flag trying to do a return. Blast them away all at once. You can also use the binocs if your in the top part of a tank. Some people land a Warhawk on the top of a mountain and use it like a sniper type weapon.

Note: If it's almost done charging and your enemy sees the green light or hears the charge and runs off -just release R1 to save your blast for later.

To charge the lightening gun - you MUST have 10 bolts left. Hold R1 until it is fully charged - then release a giant bolt of lightening on troops or a Warhawk. If you only have 9 bolts left you can not charge it. Single shot bolts are good on vehicles. It's also good on Warhawks if the person is good at dodging your missles and works faster than machine guns.

I think their pink. But, they look like underwater mines - large ball with spikes sticking out all over. Leave mines in unsuspecting locations for enemies to run into (or place them just over an enemies Warhawk, so when they get in a plane and take off - they run right into it). Or save them for a pesky pilot who is behind you. (Usually doesn't work on experienced pilots.)

Thanks to both of you. Oddly enough before I came back to look for responses I played a couple more games and got the last 3 bandit badges I needed. So thats taken care of for an automatic bronze trophy

Need about another 550 points for Chief Sergeant which is another Bronze trophy.

The game is much more fun when you learn how to play and how things work etc. Im still learning a lot (especially the maps) but before I would pick it up and play for a game or two and just get so frustrated because I felt like I just couldnt do anything worthwhile. Now I still get frustrated but not NEARLY as much and am actually beginning to enjoy the game lol.

I was also looking through the list of trophies. And at first it seemed like most ofthem would be impossible or very hard to do. Yet the more I play the more I realize there are only maybe 5 out of the 56 that are VERY hard. I have also already done quite a few of them. Including the shoot down a warhawk with a binoculars strike (it was one of my 2 kills for the badge lol). Among about another 10-12 that I have already done. I know those arent retroactive BUT it just shows me I can and will be able to do them once the patch hits. So that makes me happy.

Cymbol youll have to set up a clan match so we can all get that trophy

There will be about 10 trophies that will be retroactive. The rest, you'll have to get yourself.

3 Badge Trophies: All Bandit Badges(Bronze), All Master Badges(Silver), All Warhawk Badges(Gold)

3 Medal Trophies: 5 Medals(Bronze), 15 Medals(Silver), All Medals(Gold)

4 Rank Trophies: Chief Sergeant(Bronze), Commander(Silver), Lt Colonel(Silver), General(Gold)

Everything else will have to be done "again" once the patch hits.

I have been thinking about getting Warhawk. Now that it's a greatest hit and it's getting trophies why not right? So whats it like, are the updates free and is it addicting?

Yup. The updates are free but the booster packs are gonna cost ya. And hell yes its addicting. Be careful out on the battlefield though, a lot of tough players out there, but with the new update containing a thing with rookie servers, you'll probably have no problem.

Trophies are out this Thursday, along with other updates: ingame music, etc.

The trophy patch/ingame music patch are free (you'll automatically get all the other updates when you first log on).

New maps cost (usually around 7.99 - there are only two new ones along with an upcoming map). Not sure if the new jetpacks are part of the free update or not.

As for addictiveness - well, obviously I am - but I will say, most people who don't like the game gave up early on cause they got killed a lot. Like most games that are good, it takes a little while to get the controls, learn the maps, learn to fly - but the more you play, the better you get, the better you get the more fun you have; and fun can be addictive.

Idealsupra is one of the newest players on this thread - he would be your best source for how it is as a new player.
