I was practicing some hot drops while letting my plane get shot to crap.. I flew over a zone while being persued, dropped a cluster bomb and bailed out while still in full flight. The chasing enemy continued to persue my plane shooting it to explosion while I dropped a couple mines around the flag, landed, took the zone, grabbed a new plane and continued on my way to the next zone. The other guy was clearly confused as he came circling around and then boosted off. EXACTLY as I was hoping I could do!

The only really bad stuff is the jetpack aerial dogfights take some serious coordination (until I get used to it I'm sure), but it makes things so much more dynamic. Gone are the annoying times you wish you could jump higher or just needed to "RUN" faster. Now you just boost away. Talk about diving out of the tanks way! The dodge does work fairly well for the rocket launchers too. And it's sooooo awesome to bail if you know you're getting fired at by a close missile turret and don't have time to save yourself because you can just hover in the air and blow it to bits with a rocket launcher (take THAT you annoying missile turret bastahds!).

I was only able to get an hour of trigger time but I was digging the new maneuvers I could pull off, and it's an obvious game changer in terms of strategy and teamwork. Two people jumping into a warhawk is no longer a gamble with the ability to bail out if the pilot chooses to be a jerk and not drop you off.

Excellent summarization. My internet keeps going on and off (on right now) - and I have repair dude coming later this evening - so hopefully I'll be able to try it out for more than 30 minutes. Had time to download it, and played one game - our team won - got a 136 points with the winning team ribbon. It will definitely take some getting used to - but should be fun.

You setting up all the boards with Jetpacks for Sat. game? Or just some?

Got my first trophie yesterday. it was only a training , but trophie none the less. also i got the Hero trophie. Also, i love the way they used the exact same Zero Wing reference I have in my signature for the Platinum Trophie. The platinum Trophie says "All your base trophies are belong to Platinum!" I busted out laughing when i read it!

You need to register over at myblutech.com (in my sig) to make sure you know about all of our games. Also, we'll be setting up a time for everyone to get the "Warlord" trophy - please don't leave the Clan just for the trophy, it would make it a hassle for me to keeping adding everyone back in who wants to leave and comeback, etc.

(If you simply want to leave the Clan to join another - that's fine, no hard feelings. )

I played a couple of games last night with the new booster pack; but I can't say I enjoy those games as much. Not sure if it is because I suck at it or what, but in my opinion there are too many yet-packs in the games, plus they don't run out of fuel, which results in everyone flying around all the friggin time. I think it is throwing the games out of balance. Does anyone else feel this way?

Anyone else slightly disappointed with the fallen star expansion? I think Broken Mirror is a hundred times better. The jet-pack thing is pretty lame, you are a sitting duck in it. One rocket and your dead, no chaff either! That new map isnt that great either, I kinda feel like I wasted $8. Oh well, the trophies and the new knife are friggin' sweet

We have two very extreme sides to this booster pack. I dig it, you feel ripped off


You can dodge rocket launcher missiles... you double tap R2 and pick a direction perpendicular to the direction the missile is approaching (roughly).. so if you are facing a rocket coming directly at you, time it so as it approaches closer you dodge left/right/down/up (forward and aft aren't so good in this situation since you're just shortening or lengthening the rocket approach) and it should narrowly zip right passed you. It does take some practice for sure, but I think chaff would make jet packs TOO good.

I haven't had time to dig into the new map as much yet, but the jet packs on the older levels has opened up a seriously new approach to every standard strategy set so far.

I was surprised there wasn't a fuel gauge to worry about, but I think once everyone realizes that being in the air all the time makes you extremely vulnerable, that'll change. I wouldn't be surprised to see some form of nerfing in the future, though.

Trophies are nice. I got some pretty hard ones last night. Not sure how, but i did manage to kill an enemy plane with cluster bombs, and also go the one for killing a plane with the tank (not that hard), and killing every member on opposition atleast once.

They are on the Omega Dawn pack - If you go to the Omega Factory map for 20 players or more, you'll find them there.

I don't know, but I assume that game would have to "officially" start - most games don't start till 8 players are present.

Anyway, an easy way to do hit list is join a 8 player CFT - over 30 minutes with 4X4 - you are bound to get each player just through normal gameplay without even trying.

I dont think it would work quite how you want it to. I mean it will go BOOM lol...but it will be a "going to GET the jackpack" type of boom. Not oh Im in a jetpa-BOOM lol.

On a side note... WHAT IS A LIGHTNING SHELL? Theres a trophy that says destroy an enemies APCs epod shield with a lightning shell. The only thing I can think of is the Warhawks Lightning gun but I tried that and it didnt do anything.

What am I missing?
