The Regal (Edwards Cinema) I mostly frequent has this plaque outside the entrance to the RPX auditorium (Auro 11.1). I can't remember what audio setup the other Edwards I go to has. I prefer AMC's Dolby Cinema, especially for the seating.

Anyways they are missing out on showing off what that projector can do. We already missed out on BW/TSS/and now SC. Perhaps they chose not to rent films from the studios because of the constant push backs on release dates and they aren't going to do anything until Hollywood stops this shit?

Anyone else's measum IMAX theaters stop showing Hollywood movies?
My guess is there is some capital investment in showing the Hollywood movies and they are hesitant because not everyone is willing to go back to theaters yet.

Dolby Cinema is AMC exclusive, and all those theaters have Atmos standard.

That’s what I was thinking too.

Hopefully they change their minds soon before No Time to Die comes out, although I would like to take this opportunity to point out that Imax posted a side-by-side comparison the other day and it doesn’t say anything about 1.43:1, only 1.9:

https://twitter.com/imax/status/1433...629112834?s=21

We’ve been speculating about how they’re gonna handle the aspect ratio ever since word got out that some of the Imax scenes were shot in conventional 5-perf 65mm. I feel like they may be pulling a WW84 and someone will need to update the imdb tech specs. We’ll see.

It’s Dune that would be a real shame to miss in 1.43:1. I noticed that the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore isn’t showing Hollywood films in their Imax theater either right now, so hopefully I’ll be able to see Villeneuve’s latest work as he intended without traveling to another part of the country.

That IMAX No Time to Die demo isn't too impressive. See 10% more edges of rocks on the top and bottom of your screen!

It really irks me that IMAX is moving away from their 1.43:1 ratio, especially for productions that use their film cameras. They did the same thing to Tenet by showing the difference between 2.20:1 and 1.90:1 and it's such an unfair comparison to make.

No Time to Die and Dune deserves to be shown on a 1.43:1 screen and we need a comparison that shows how much of a difference it makes.

Shouldn't it be the director's decision? Where do they stand?

Does IMAX not show these films in 1.43:1?

Isn't this maybe a problem with their marketing because the smaller IMAX theaters can't show 1.43:1? Maybe the bigger theaters see the fuller ratio but they can't market it as being everywhere?

Most newer theater installs and overall architecture designs don't factor in a four to five story 4:3 screen

Honestly I have yet to hear an Auro system that has impressed me - object based mixing is best heard on a system that has at least 64 speakers to allow the sound to be sourced in any spectrum of the listening space. I heard "Everest" in all three audio formats: Atmos, IMAX 12-channnel, Auro; and guess which I thought had the most precise intricate mix of the three, let me give you a hint, it wasn't the latter two

IMAX just sucks these days. No longer showing 3D and that last paragraph explaining that classic 1:43 IMAX screens will still NOT show the picture in 1:43 for some reason sounds like a bad joke. I'll keep using 4DX or explore other formats. IMAX doesn't care about their customers anymore.

Always if they shot in 15/70 IMAX. Issue at hand - unknown if they will strike any 15/70 IMAX prints. VERY expensive - especially for a movie of this length. (Cost would be around $150,000 per print) IMO they will strike at least one for CINEWORLD LEICESTER SQUARE IMAX. Maybe a second for the BFI IMAX THEATER. Both in London, UK.

This site seems to be able to show you if your IMAX has laser. Easiest to filter by state and then see if any phrase containing DL is in the FMT column. I see a few AMCs with DL in NJ, and one 1570+DL Regal in PA. 6 various DLs in NY state.

Say what you will of the Melissa McCarthy version of Ghostbusters, but that chance to see it in 4:3 IMAX 3D "experience" was hands down one of the most visually OTT memories I'll never forget - the visuals breaking out of the 2.35 framing - the entire screen opening up to the full 4:3 screen dimensions during the drop into the interdimensional vortex - oh...my...gawd (total eye candy) IMAX went full on balls to the walls to make this an insanely visual rollercoaster of a movie

Well I do hope they strike at least a handful for the US

Maybe one for the Lincoln Square Sony IMAX in NYC.

Spending a million or two million dollars on prints isn't going to be the first thing the production companies will think about doing.

I'm still thrilled I missed it.

The premiere in IMAX near me only sold 27 seats.
