I still can't see why they wouldn't wait until after the holidays. Why not let us go rabid buying both formats hoping our format wins. It doesn't make since to produce a line of products after you've announced that you're letting that line go. I see it from a p.r. stand point but I still see them waiting until after they've made their money off both formats.

cause while we, the minority, will go rabid, the majority of the world will sit on the fence and buy nothing.

There isn't even a thread over at the HD-DUD forums...another thing that makes me wonder.

to make money. because they were already produced. remember what the original poster said - that they will honor their release schedule through the end of the year. this is smart because they capitalize on hd dvd sales without foregoing what product they've already invested in.

News of new Blu-ray marketing is always great to hear! Exposure to the masses seems to be a major part of the strategy now (more facings at Target, signs at the entrance to Blockbuster, Sony's new HD ads). The more people think HD=Blu-ray, the more insignificant HD-DVD becomes...

For the endcap/merchandising plans at Walmart, anything upcoming for HD-DVD as well?

Any kind of statement like the OP is talking would be for us the minority. The fence sitters would act on this because the fence sitters should be watching...kind of the definition of a fence sitter.

If this is true and I am hoping to the Blu-Ray gods this should end the format war. The end is nearing for HD-DVD this should be the death kiss from Warner. At least if true Warner is not completely dumping HD-DVD like Paramounted dumped Blu-Ray. Heres hoping for tomorrow's announcement.

If they give consumers direction, more will feel confident enough to jump in and buy a player this holiday season. If the feeling of the consumer is that the "war" could go either way, he's more likely to sit the holidays out.

They still support hd dvd through the holidays, so they don't lose money there. But announcing blu-ray exclusivity would mean they'll get incentives from the BDA & gain more disk sales.
