7.1 is all well and good, but this should sound amazing in either Dolby Atmos or 8.4 (IMAX-laser) sound

Being the lazy person that I am most likely I will go see it at Udvar after the Regal RPX showing.........but to trek to Tyson's corner on a weekend will be difficult as a movie like that would probably have all seats sold (or the good ones sold anyways) and then it will probably boot it the movie to make way for Pirates. I have no time during the week to go over there.

There's the Arclight Bethesda that has Atmos and a large screen that will run Alien: Covenant.

So I got off my lazy ass and treked to AMC Tyson's corner on Saturday to see GotGv2 in Dolby Atmos. I haven't been been there since seeing TF:AOE in Imax back in 2014. They retrofitted so much of that theater since the last time I was there. I had to sit in the K section but that was ok. Seats were pretty comfy, but I honestly don't think it's a good idea for me to recline them as it makes me too relaxed and sleepy lol. The audio was very good. I felt the mix was presented really well compared to hearing it in RPX/Regal IMAX and xD. I found it interesting that the chairs rumbled a bit during some scenes that reminded me of D-BOX over at the Cobb Theater in leesburg. My showing wasn't in 3-d...weird, and the ticket guy was like , "That's Atmos, it's not 3-d..".

Concession lines seems worse than before they started putting the dividers up for members and non members. Took 20 minutes to get thru the lines... geez
The nachos tasted a lot better than the ones from Regal and I felt that I had enough Nachos to cheese compared to Regal lol.

After the movie I peaked over to the Imax screen to see if their set up changed. Nope still standard seats. Went over to the standard screens as well and they look the same as well.

Overall I think Atmos is what RPX and xD should be presented as, instead of weak front dialog front speakers and less than stellar surround sound.

I personally hate the seats of Dolby Cinema auditoriums - they should have a way to manually turn off the rumble effect if you don't want it.

Cobb's D-Box screen isn't even in immersive audio - it's standard 7.1, and the one screen that does feature it is Auro.

Regal despite being one of the top three chains in America, are cheap bastards when it comes to installing immersive audio on their RPX screens - it should be mandatory IMO that ALL RPX screens should be Atmos, but that's my 'ideal world' scenario

Cinemark's XD screens are exclusively Auro (why, oh why??)

the reason I was told and read online why Dolby Cinema screens are not 3D is that the majority of the DC screens are in competition with the IMAX screens in the same complex, IMAX gets the preference. Secondly, DC would ideally be 4K, but any and all 3D projection is stuck in 2K resolution.

Really? Personally DC has become my new obsession and I seek it out for nearly every major release now. The reclining seats give me the feel of watching the movie as if I'm at home. Massive, comfortable seats with large arm rests, ample leg room and each row is elevated so no one's massive head obstructs your view of the screen. I feel truly isolated as all I see is the screen in front of me. A near private screening if you may. Granted, I will give you the rumbling of the seats can be an issue with some films or if thats just not your thing. But personally, I feel like in most presentations it's not overused or a distraction during the film. Love that nearly the whole auditorium from the seats to the aisles to the speakers are black so that when the film is playing they become invisible and all you see is the screen. The dual 4k projector setup with HDR and near perfect black levels make the video component the best I've seen in terms of viewing technology in the theaters. The dolby atmos speakers that completely surround you from the front, side, rear, and directly above you give for a truly 360 immersive audio experience. The screen is larger than your traditional cinema screen and wall to wall giving you the illusion it's even bigger then it really is. You get to select your seats beforehand so no waiting in lines. The only potential gripe I can find with it is the bass shaking seats, if only they could make that a feature you could turn on or off. Otherwise, in my mind, it's the standard to beat at the cinema. Now, if IMAX ever got reclining seats and more films took advantage of shooting in large format IMAX to take up the whole screen, that would probably be my preference. But I feel like reclining seats wouldn't work with IMAX because the whole point of the seat layout in IMAX is to make the rows as vertical as possible and close to the screen as possible so as to give you that "larger than life" experience when viewing the massive screen. My 2 cents anyways

I've seen more than a few films in Dolby Atmos at a Cinemark XD screen.

How does Cinemark XD compared to a Marcus Ultrascreen? The one I frequent is 4K with Dolby Atmos.

There is comfy, and then there is too comfy. I kinda worry about bringing home
bed bugs.
http://www.travelchannel.com/interes...estation-spots

Either my wife brought it home from her job or we got it from going to the movies. It's impossible to tell where they came from until it was too late. That is why I ALWAYS use my cell phone flash to scan the seat. I thought about bringing a UV light just in case. I don't need that shit in my house again...man that was a nightmare.

I still haven't tried Atmos, and I'm not sure any D Cinema screens are even operating yet in Europe.

Nice to see a bigger extraction from 35mm print:

This gives me hope for the 15/70 version of Justice League later this year. Even DMR'd version.

For Dunkirk from IMDB:

1 : 1 (opening sequence: all versions)
1.44 : 1 (some scenes: IMAX 70mm and laser versions)
1.90 : 1 (some scenes: IMAX digital version)
2.20 : 1 (70 mm print)
2.35 : 1

1:1? I don't think so.
