Large Format/"Premium" Theaters (IMAX 15/70, Digital IMAX, XD, ETX, RPX, etc.)

Does anybody who saw The Force Awakens or Rogue One in Dolby Cinema on opening night and/or weekend remember if advance tickets went on sale at the same time as regular screenings and IMAX? I've noticed pre-ticket sales usually start a week out at the Dolby I just moved next to, often long after IMAX and regular tickets go on sale.

As I expected given the only IMAX theater in my area it played in, the film was presented in scope in order to fill the screen. Does kinda make me wonder why the film wasn't shot in scope, as it looked really good for the flying sequences, though naturally there were parts of heads cropped off in interior dialogue scenes.

Well I saw American Made preview night in IMAX and guess what? That rear right distortion problem.......either they dropped the audio level on that speaker or just turned it off as I didn't hear it again.
That email made it sound like it should be fixed for BR2049 so I have to go back to that theater to listen to it again. Again the trailers were loud as **** and the main movie was toned down.

IMAX needs to just say **** it and produce a Multiplex that contains TEN Imax Screens in one location.

The Atmos array in the new Odeon Isense in Bournemouth didn't love the blade runner soundtrack, rattled like an old ford with a 90s dance tune on cassette turned too loud.
Picture was stunning tho.
Had to pick between two large format showings as one was the 2d 4k master (the one I picked to see first)
And the other was the 3d 2k master

I wonder how much of TLJ is shot in IMAX. Most likely as much as TFA (5 minutes), but hopefully Rian Johnson pushes for a lot more than that.

Oh for ****'s sake, the same thing happened with TFA: Science Museum got the 15/70 print while the BFI's stuck with their 2K digital projection. But the one recent SW film with NO 15/70 footage whatsover gets a 15/70 blow-up at the BFI? Wut? Makes no goddamned sense.

Citywalk showed rogue one in 70mm IMAX so it's weird that they aren't doing so for TLJ.

That's also where Nolan was doing his post production workprint screenings of Dunkirk. Since that was going on around the same time (end of last year/early this), I wonder if that factored into it as there was 15/70 equipment/staff already being used there.

Also, at least Citywalk has laser, so I feel it's not a big loss there. For a place like BFI, if they will show it in standard IMAX Digital (with even the 15/70 footage shown in 1.9 windowboxing I'm assuming) instead, I get the complaint more.

True, the IMAX theater I go to is actually a bigger screen than citywalk, yet they still have the standard digital projector. They showed Dunkirk in 70mm. They are showing last Jedi in digital though they did the same for force awakens and rogue one so it's not suprising.

The Science Museum still hasn't revealed when tickets will go on sale; they're doing a one-off double bill with TFA too.

TLJ is 2.5 hours? That's the longest Star Wars film ever isn't it?

Exactly. If they had a 4K laser setup at the BFI then fine. But they don't. Saved me £100 I suppose, there's always a silver lining.
