Makes me wonder what tomorrow will bring for both sides..so, here's a pre-emptive strike.

yeah, but the fence sitters would hop off and they would selll way more than the litterly >80k they would on hd dvd.

Well if it really was an HD DVD prankster wouldn't it make more sense to say the announcement is coming much later down the line and not tomorrow?

But you see, the only people this is torturing is the HD-DUD folks. By this time tomorrow we may be scraping what is left of them off the sidewalks around tall buildings.

To add some fuel to the fire:

Penton-Man posted on 9/17/2007 in the Insiders thread (pointed out several pages back):

Looking back over his posts in that thread, he all but stopped posting for several days, and then came back to his regular posting volume on 9/24/2007, five days after he announced his "sabbatical".

It's not evidence, but could this be another oblique Penton-Man reference?
he said to PM him to which P man always says. i think theres a good chance it might be pman.

He mentioned they would honor their HD-DVD commitments untill the (end of the year?) or was it all movies they have said they would do for HD-DVD. Pretty much the same thing.

Makes perfect sense to me. If they already own an HD DVD, they'll buy your movies. If they already own a blu-ray or were going to pick a player up this season... then they'll pick blu-ray and buy your movie. It's money either way if they sell hd dvd version or blu-ray version.

The only money they lose is people who were planning on picking up hd dvd, absolutely won't pick up blu-ray and decide to buy no player at all. I'm sure there might be a couple thousand vocal blu-ray haters like that, probably because they hate the PS3 since it competes with another system they own. Not a huge chunk of the market. To add to that, think of all the fence sitters who might buy blu-ray players, and then buy WB movies as a result of the announcement. It'd dwarf the losses 100 fold.

I do believe (at least until tomorrow at 10AM PST). Somehow I was hoping for this but based upon the statement from Warner saying they would wait until after the forth quarter sales is is a suprise. Thanks for the info!

Cause someone with no life (looks around) would just start another thread with the same topic. Why delete a dozen tomorrow when they can just delete one?
