No IMAX here.

You asked for confirmation, what else should I have done?

Can someone go to an IMAX with a video camera please and end this discussion? We all need undeniable proof of these things do we? Didn't you say in here earlier said they say it in 2D 15/70, now the post is deleted... Can I see your ticket stub?

Stop lying, stop trolling. It's not fun for anyone else but you, and you might confuse the impressionable.

Ah, that's too bad. Do they still use the large screen, though, even if they don't get the IMAX version of the movie?

You need to get your facts straight if you are going to accuse someone of lying. First of all, my post about seeing it in IMAX 2D was in the Star Trek thread, not this one. And it's still there. I didn't delete it. You didn't even see it in IMAX, so you don't have a leg to stand on.

Except that you're arguing something that nobody else agrees with, and won't accept any proof on the manner. Hence, lying and trolling.

It's 25 meters. The real IMAX in Sydney is 30 something. I simply don't think a digital projector can stretch those extra few meters...

But it's very big, very loud and very immersive. I wasn't a fan of the 3D, but I saw it again at another Cineplex location in 2D on the 25.5 meter screen, and the same sound system (although I think the shape of the room makes the old IMAX one sound better, to me).

Someone else in this thread said they saw it in IMAX and there were black bars at the top and bottom. Are you even reading what people are posting here?

Yeah, I may go to Austin during the next few weeks. If they're still showing Star Trek Into Darkness in the Real IMAX theater down there, I will try to see it.

I'm surprised that no one from the Austin area has chimed in yet in this thread or the STID thread.

Are you? No one's telling you you experience was wrong (except me), but you're complaining that the movie isn't in the aspect ratio that every website on the internet has it listed as.

Are you here to argue or not? Otherwise you'd simply ignore me... But you don't. You're a troll.

Austin's about as big as my backyard isn't it? Give it some time...

I'm surprised the few Queenslanders kicking around weren't in my very session. Guess it's a big world...

It's a tech-savvy town, and all of yesterday's (Saturday's) IMAX screenings were sold out. There's bound to be a few BD.com members who saw it there this weekend.

Yeah, slow start Friday and really kicked in on Saturday I hear?

I've never seen a films weekend boxoffice prediction change four or five times over the course of the weekend before. I'm interested to see the final numbers.

You realise a lot of those people saw it in Digital and don't know what they're talking about, like your theatre's management, and like you.

IMAX accounted for 17 of the Top 20 locations in the U.S. I guess that's helping to cushion the blow from lower attendance.

How much is IMAX 3D in the states? I saw Space Station some years back and I think I paid $30 or more.

And people complain about the regular 3D premium!

Yep, it's expensive; http://www.imax.com.au/prices/

It depends. Believe it or not, the Bob Bullock in Austin charges the same price for 2D and 3D, so it's only $12 USD for adults ($10 for students). That is cheaper than what Cinemark and AMC charge for their XD/ETX cash grab.

Cinemark and AMC charge about $15.50 USD for Digital LieMAX 3D.

HOLY! You pay double to triple what we pay!

I actually saw the movie and I could see that it wasn't in 1.44 aspect ratio. Before this movie was released, everyone thought the aspect ratio would be 1.44, myself included, because portions were filmed in IMAX. I'm sure all these websites didn't fill in their information after watching the movie. They just know that the movie was filmed in IMAX, so they list it at 1.44. I've done my own research instead of trusting websites that who knows where they get their info from. I've seen the movie in IMAX with my own eyes and I confirmed with my theater.
