Just in from rumour control.
The Detrot Lions will run the table and win the super bowl.
The AFC opponent will be Kansas City and the Lions will feast on the Cheifs to the tune of 65-3 in the big game.

I can not name my sources just yet, but trust me this is a done deal.

It sounds like a great deal to me! I believe him. Doesn't hurt me if it doesn't happen. It's just the internet..

In case you are wondering, I wasn't offended or anything. I just thought it's funny that people seem to want to ask me that kind of stuff (instead of, say, my insight on the subtle differences of Toshiba and Sony corporate cultures...which I have none, regrettably, although I can tell you a little about Hitachi and NEC, if anyone is ever interested. )

If this is true then the HD-DUD supporters will be saying: We don't need WB... we have Paramount/DW and Universal. It never ends.

Yeah, I'm sure even if this is true they're going to come up with some crazy ass stats like attach rate per studio or some such nonsense. ("Hey, Blu-ray has 80% of the studios but only 60% of the sales! That's pathetic!")

enjoy

banding (happy feet) / softness (Batman Begins) / Inconsistency (Blood Diamond)...etc.?
Hassoon, I agree with you on all three of those counts - none of them are truly bad discs, but I do see the problems you mention and think they're overrated.

But those aren't directly related to bit-rate. In the case of banding, they could only hide that by selectively dithering transitions between colours. I talked to the guys at SPHE and they said they expirement with this sort of thing on all-CG movies.

As for the softness on the other two, that's most likely down to the way the film was shot OR filtering to meet a target bit-rate - but not a direct consequence of using a lower bit-rate.
