Wow! That must have been an amazing concert! Unfortunately I didn't 'discover' Genesis until A Trick of the Tail was released. They were my favourite band way back when. Completely lost interest in them after Hackett left.

I'm glad to say things are on order and announcement is indeed due 10AM Pacific Time.
For now let me try to address few questions :

-As for Nickerson leaving Warner, I have head few stories but I'm not really sure if they are correct. Some say he was leaving because he wanted to, some day after Paramount announcement a change was inevitable (Warner being last dual format supporter) and Nickerson didn't have any plans. So nothing specific that I have here share with you.

-As for Warner not waiting till 2008 to announce exclusivity, the answer is simple. Here's what I have heard :
"The initial plan was to get Warner exclusive on Blu-ray and declare the news in 2008. the deal was reached last month. However considering the upcoming hollidays, BDA pressured Warner to make the announcement in Q4 so they can sell more units. Also there will be a coupon in Harry Potter set (take this with a grain of salt) that will give customers 100$ off on a Blu-ray player (Probably Panasonic). What BDA didn't succeed in was to prevent Warner from releasing HD DVDs till the end of 2007 which is not shocking considering the contract Warner has with Toshiba and the backlash Paramount caused by stopping their support so sudden. So Warner chose to be smart here.

Guys less than 4 hours is left till the announcement. For those who have doubt me, you are going to enjoy the news even more since you didn't expect it. For others, I'm happy that you guys wont be disppointed
.
I'm not too optimistic regarding WB exclusivity tomorrow, but I'd be more than happy to admit "you were correct" if the rumor pans out. If you are a troll, you're the most dangerous type, as you actually know what you're talking about.

If you are correct, I'd bet a few members WOULD be willing to send you a blu-ray movie even though I'm sure you were joking about that.

Should we really be building ourselves a disappointment bomb?

Given the cloak and daggar spirit going on here, and the clues and inferences, I believe Hussla was trying to say that "fat lady was preparing to sing"

So theyused the $100 rebate in Harry Potter to make the announcement early? I suppose that is a good way to get Warner to announce early because if people were on the fence with buying a BluRay player, having a $100 rebate with Harry Potter would be a great way to push them over the edge.

I still find it odd though they would still release HD titles AND announce they will be exclusive to HD next year. They have to know that the few HD supporters will boycott their titles and basically they'll make nothing on them if they do infact announce they are exclusive with BR.

At least I know "I am legend" will now be a BR exclusive next year (probably release in April or May).

Dude look I give you credit, your posts are well written, logical and sound convincing.

However I think you are making it all up, either way I give you kudos and an A+ for effort. You deserve it for pulling off such a staggering amount of posting in one day lol

Will people be disappointed? I for one won't but i will be delighted if its true. We should not let ourselves get upset on every false dawn.

Why close the thread? There is a nice, lively discussion going on and people seem to really be enjoying themselves. This thread is worth noting because we haven't had an influx of trolls or fighting going on. That's pretty rare with potentially earth-shattering info such as this. Let's all continue the spirited dialogue and have some fun with this!

it's hard to imagine the OP isn't trolling, and if so, this is the most expertly pulled off trolling ever.

if not, then wow. just wow.

we'll be seeing in a few hours though, won't we.

just a few weeks ago, i would have said that something of this magnitude would have SOME leaks, but that was before the P/DW bombshell.

Finally caught back up.

Greatest. Format War. Thread. Ever.

Even though I'm leaning toward it being true now if it turns out inaccurate it's not going to be a major disappointment. I think it has been a welcome bit of relief.

i've always suspected WB would go HD-DVD if anything. Be surprised if this turns out to be true.
