Thx all,

Marc
Lee is an HD DVD fanboy on AVS he claimed that he knows this is a hoax, as the hoaxster and him have had numerous PMs discussing this.

Take a lude, man. The majority of people here aren't taking this seriously. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, oh well - many people had a lot of fun laughing at the format conflict and most of all laughing at themselves.

I'm quite proud of the way this forum has behaved. Nothing extreme or hateful; no suppositions based on suppositions. Let's keep it that way, eh?

I begged them to ban Lee or me for life.

I have posted there 2 times this year, I think, and they were in the last hour.

I used to love that place, but it's turned to ... less then zero.

I'm hoping they do the right thing. They don't deserve to sink so quickly, that site used to be tops, #1 in my book but then there wasn't a format war back then.

This thread is comedy gold, no matter how it ends.

Win #1:
In a mostly boring week of non-news, particularly after the complete and utter lack of interesting new developments at IFA and CEDIA, this thread appears and reminds us all why we're buying into HDM in the first place. In many ways, it has been much more entertaining than most of the movies in my HDM collection.

Win #2:
Seeing rdjam go spastic all over the Internetz is always a worthwhile cause IMO!

Win #3:
Nothing bad happens if it's not true. We're all expecting it to not be true, so no harm, no foul, just a fun exercise towards the end of a boring week.

For what it's worth, no matter what happens, I give props to the OP for livening up what's been a truly banal few weeks on the HDM news front.

If this thread was called "Warner Going HD-DVD Exclusive (Rumor)" do we think it would have lasted so long.

Not stirring, just wanted to know?

One hour to go before the 'prank' is revealed. The main thing here is that there's about 83 pages and counting of entertaining postings.

As a trick to rile up BD owners, it would backfire in the sense, now people do realize that the community of BD watchers is not a small one. I can't think of a thread in AVS that grew to 100 pages in a day. This one in Blu-ray.com certainly shows signs of doing that.

This number of hits lends legitimacy to blu-ray.com and hence increases advertising revenue potential, if the owners of this site were to exploit it that way.

From the proven potential readership base, the dollar value of your site can be sold for has gone up quite a bit. Congratulations to those who started this site.

Just got this in my AVS inbox:

I had NOTHING to do with starting it or planning it.

All discussions were after the fact.

MAKE URE you post THIS PM on BD.com so all will know "my part" in the hoax.

I give you 100% permission to post this PM at BD.com

seriously if there is one thing that this proves, it proves the Blu-ray community is massive. 1600 posts in 18 hours is huge.

IF the pm's were on this board the admins can check and see if this is true...

I dare not try to put words in people's mouths, but I recall Penton more or less shooting all of this down last night. Check his recent post history and see what you all think.

I thought there was a consensus last night that while awesome if true, it was likely a hoax and that nobody was gonna let themselves get all worked up about it?

I know...I read it last night when it was first posted and no responses yet, I turned to a co-worker and said this is going to be a interesting night, I didn't think it would get this crazy though. If it happens today and I am wrong, great, if it doesn't, then I have faith it is only a matter of time before it does as the numbers speak for themselves.

Ya, so Lee has had over 12 hours knowing the rumor was a hoax. That should be enough to ban or suspend him over there.

Whatever,

Lee Stewart getting banned would be the best for the AVS community and the best thing for him as well, he deserves a chance to do something usefull with his time.
