I can just imagine how things would have looked had the rumor been twisted the other way around. Would there be 80+ pages on here screaming? Probably. Damn, this is a fricken media format, not all that important in the grand scheme of things.. really.

Funny you should say that, I talked to my Fox rep and he said originally they were going to have StarWars this 4th qtr for BR. Supposedly Sony couldn't get something done from a technical standpoint so they scraped the whole idea. Maybe that's why you saw them stop putting BR movies out for a while. It was only when Paramount switched to HD did they start releasing titles again (I guess they were afraid HD would win if they didn't start releasing again).

He did say expect Starwars movies next 4th qtr though.....although I've learned stuido reps tend to overstate their knowledge of their own company. The Paramount/Unviersal reps couldn't even explain why they are exclusive to HD so sometimes they are just incompetent buffoons.

Maybe the mods started this thread just for the fun of banning people later on.

I do not care if it was a hoax, it is entertaining. I think some of us need to not take stuff like this as a guerrilla movement by HD-DVD guys, my god it is packaged media. No lives where lost and it might just have been worth it just to see some of the HD-DVDers freak out. If it is a hoax, well played sir. Not sure it worked as you intended but well played.

Why? the joke is on AVS not Blu-ray. If HD-DVD lost WB it would be game over for HD-DVD, whereas Blu-ray gains basically nothing. So a HD-DVD supporter spreading a false rumour about the demise of HD-DVD is 'crapping on your own doorstep'.

Assuming its a false rumour.
