It was nice to see that one troll user go down in flames, that's all.

Plus a lot of people have invested in DV setups so you always want to cheer for your own dog in the race.

We never had hope in the first place. It's certain other people who took a shit on Dolby every chance they got and who championed the amazingness of HDR10+ that these posts are being aimed at.

I'm hoping to god that a decently priced TV(sub£500, I know its asking a lot) hits the market in time for that particular time of year, that has all four technologies in it. If for no other reason, i can finally see what Ultra HD looks like.

I couldn’t find a generator that gave me a pic with deeper focus. I can’t stand shallow DOF. I love anamorphic for using all the negative but they don’t have the deep focus ability of spherical.

Well, getting technical HDR10+ doesn't exist on disc, so it's just HDR10 currently being "courted" and not ditched for DV.

Obviously, I meant “depth of perception” and wasn’t bogged by autocorrect.

Don't worry, I'll be reserving my ultimate judgment for when I finally see it for myself, seeing as there are some Dolby nuts on here who are every inch the PR-spouting equivalent of HeatEquation's undying love for HDR10+. But at least in their case they have the bullish confidence of Dolby's encroachment into the HDR market on all levels, whereas HDR10+ always looked like a cut-rate competitor and so putting all your eggs in that basket seemed to be the most irrational choice of the lot. That, and it seems to be in a spot of bother right now.

The issue with all the crazy vitriol is that there is still an HDR10 core? The dolby vision nuts are not losing out like is being posited by HDR10+ having UHD discs.

It is more likely than not that without HDR10+ in the ecosystem these discs would just be regular HDR10 -- which would leave these frothing so and so's in the same boat as they are?

Companies embracing HDR10+ are doing so for the benefit of not having to pay royalties to Dolby...

The HDR10 core is a non-issue, and the vitriol has passed. Now it's all for the yucks.

What companies (other than Panasonic - Samsung's the one who came up with the thing)?

There's a yearly membership fee BTW for HDR10+ (the "free" aspect is false propaganda). It's just not on a per-unit thing.
