Default PS3 60gb Wireless

Greetings everyone,

I'm not sure if this is exactly the right place to post this but since I frequent this forum the most I thought I'd give it a shot.

I've had my PS3 60gb for almost a year now and I can never get the wireless internet to reach any reasonable speeds or even work sometimes! I've tried changing every setting I can think of and before anybody says move it closer to the router, signal strength isn't an issue, my laptop get speeds down such as 9000kbit/s (see attached jpeg) where the PS3 is so you would think the PS3 would get the same speeds. Does anybody know if there is a fix to this or if the 80gb PS3 works better? If it does I might just take it back and say it's faulty and ask for the newer version.
Thanks!

Default same prob

i had the same problem with my 60gb PS3 when i first got it...figured why not use its wireless capabilities...it worked only it wasnt stable, it would cut out often or say it couldnt detect a wireless connection and my router is just 4 feet from the ps3! so i just ended up going for the wired connection and no problems getting disconnected anymore. if anyone knows of a solution if they had similar problems i'd like to know aswell so i can get back to wireless on the ps3.

I have a LINKYS router and I had similar issues, but after chatting when a links advisor they had me turn off a certain security setting and after that my PS3 internet worked fine. Before I could not even log on to play Motorstorm online because it would not connect. Now it works awesome.

i have had no issues w/ connectivity throught a linksys router, i do need to get a linkys expander to get better reception.

i think you may need to simply return for another one.

I have a Linksys WRT54G router (very common one) and I don't have any security settings enabled that could come in the way... Unfortunately wiring is almost not an option since I'd have to run the cable through: living room, dining room, kitchen
Has anybody had this problem on the 80gb PS3?

Yep, this is a popular router.I have the same one and had the same problems before. You can call Linksys customer service and explain the problem to them they will help you out.It has to do with getting into the router and opening some ports for the PS3 to get connect to.

Also on the check the PS3 website out in the forums...try this link
http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...d.id=psnetwork

there is alot of usefull information there about what to do.

I have the same router but mine is the WRT54GS with speedbooster. I am at work now but I will be home at about 6 PM mountain time and will check the settings and let you know. Now did you put the MAC address in your wireless routers network? Did you put the priority as highest? I will log on at 6
pm here and let you know. It is something very simple because I could not believe I overlooked it, but it made a world of differance.
