Made magic cookie bars/seven layer cookie bars from this recipe:

https://www.livewellbakeoften.com/magic-cookie-bars/

The only problem was that I took out a piece to eat after cooling it off for 15 minutes instead of the 3 hours that I was supposed to. Letting the rest cool now.

But on the plus side I have enough ingredients for a couple more batches to try again.

watching a youtube video of an old chinese man making stuff out of wood. he uses no power tools, just hand-powered tools. and he's pretty damn good at it. he also uses a lot of natural materials that are around him.

it'd take me twice as long using all the power tools in my shop to create what he does with only a couple hand tools.

Helping at Straw Hat today as they'll be open. I don't have any family here in the Bay Area but the owner and his family is kind of like my own now. Last night I watched The Holiday which was my first time seeing it since watching it in the theater with my mom back in 2006.
Tonight, I'll plan to watch It's A Wonderful Life for the first time ever and I'd also like to watch Valkyrie as well but not sure I'll be able to stay awake. Even though Valkyrie isn't a Christmas movie, it was released on Christmas Day in 2008.

And then I was reminded on FB of a memory from 8 years ago

I was wondering what Times Square would be like in the "new normal" and saw an ad on facebook (coincidentally I'm sure) about their virtual New Year's Eve party. It looks like they'll let in some people into Time Square to celebrate, but not anywhere near what it usually is.

I guess they're trying out a virtual New Year's Eve in response. I think the concerts may actually end up being better than watching a random top 100 pop artist perform two songs on ABC's Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve and then leave the stage before another pop artist comes up. A lot of the virtual stuff looks lame though.

I ain't downloading no app but I may check it out online.

What did you think of It's a Wonderful Life? I was actually late on this one too even though it is ubiquitous around Christmas time. I saw it about 7'ish years ago, I think. Outright classic in my opinion.

I did like it and I thought Donna Reed was dreamy The part where she goes to the record player and removes the record and smashes it was great. I had seen that gif, I think here on the boards and I had thought it was quite funny. I didn't know which film it was from. But yes, a wonderful film and maybe it will become a tradition in the coming years.

I recommend the extras on itunes. I still haven't gotten through all of them because there's over an hour of extras, plus a colorized version. They go through the restoration process and how the film transfers to 4k.

I was surprised to see that there were no special features but I was watching the Blu Ray disc and not the 4K disc.

I just got done watching Valkyrie and checking out the special features for the first time. I'm going to make a post on Facebook sharing as much and a bit more. I've mentioned this before so apologies for repeating myself, but during my 2015 Germany/Austria vacation, I took over 1,400 pictures There were only two places that I didn't take any pictures, out of respect. The first place was the Memorial to the German Resistance in Berlin. The memorial is on the site where Colonel Stauffenberg and three other conspirators were executed and the two-story museum occupies space that included the offices where the Valkyrie plot was carried out.
