I've tried really hard to get into European club soccer...err...I mean football...but for whatever reason I just can't seem to get fully hooked.

I was obsessed with the last two World Cups and was hoping that it would carry over into the Premiere League or UEFA seasons.

For whatever reason, it just hasn't.

...it's not the same experience.

Give it more time. The Prem really grows on you . Plus, the quality of team play is generally much better because the players have much more time to gel as a team than they do with the World Cup. Also their livelihoods depend on their performances with their club teams, which adds to drama.

I will say that even an ignorant American novice like me can recognize the difference in quality between the Premier League and Major League Soccer.

...my god MLS is shite.

Great win for Arsenal as it was looking bad for a while in the game.

Everton were looking good but bad defending let them down.

West Brom beating by the smokies with a late goal. Big blow that.

Good luck today Geoff.

We managed to get 3 points despite getting s battering by AFC Wimbledon. Still unbeaten after 5 games with two home games coming up. (One of them may be called off due to international call ups)

I hate it when Palace are on TV. I might've mentioned that once or twice or twenty times before, I didn't even bother watching these last two games. Southampton on Saturday, three points there are pretty much essential at this point. Not that I'm panicking but we must take our points from the teams around us, anything from the big boys is a bonus. It'd sure be nice to get something from Man U this season though, five years back in the Prem and we've got 10 losses against them (plus the cup final defeat) to show for it.

We won against West.Ham but there is still plenty of work to be done.
Our defence was poor again on Saturday and we were left open every time Bellerin and Monreal pushed forward with no one dropping back to cover.
We brought Emery in to give us more tactical ideas on the pitch and to change things when it is going wrong for us but so far it has been disappointing and i hope in time he gets it right but i don't know why he wants to play the ball out from the back because this defence are not comfortable when they are under pressure and they will be put to the test on Sunday against Cardiff.

I’m calling it a day in this thread guys. It’s getting a bit soul destroying just posting without any interaction about my club. Just going to stick to local football forums from now on.
The thread has been on life support for a while now.

I will lookout for everyone’s team and send some of you guys PM’s now and again.

Cheers

Tob, I'm getting a tad more interested as a fan in Arsenal again. Will continue to do so with an open mind, if they can compete against the likes of stronger opponents than their last several.

lolz, an 11-game winning streak tends to do that. Me, I'm depressed with Crystal Paralysis all year round.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the families of Leicester City Football Club owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, his two members of staff, the helicopter pilot including his partner. They were all killed in a tragic helicopter crash at the club's football ground car park after one of their games against West Ham United FC on Saturday night. What a truly horrible accident for all involved. May they all R.I.P.

RTÉ are reporting tonight that Mick McCarthy is nearing completion of signing a contract for the job as Republic of Ireland manager for a 2nd time.

His new contract, when signed, is expected to run for 2 years up until Euro 2020. Former Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane is understood to secure a coaching role with the team very soon. The salary is expected to be lower than what Martin O'Neill & Roy Keane at their previous tenure in the job. This job was expected to be secured well in advance before the draw for Euro 2020 will take place in Dublin on Sunday the 2nd of December.

As a Republic of Ireland fan; I'm happy that Mick McCarthy will be doing the job again. I am not sure if he is able to recreate the magic that with what happened with the World Cup in Japan & South Korea in 2002. I do hope that he has further ability to create something new in the squad because the performance of the squad have not been good for any of the team's fans to endure since they lost the World Cup play off 5-1 to Denmark. I have been hearing opinions that someone who had a clean state to begin with for this team would have been better choice suited to the role to allow the players develop a new style of play for fans to enjoy once more. Although; I do think that it will become quite a mammoth job to get the team back up & running to that level once again. It certainly won't be easy as McCarthy will not have any time for friendlies before the competitive matches for the Republic of Ireland begin soon. It was back in 1996 that Mick McCarthy took up the job for the first time. His level at that World Cup brought the team up to losing a QF against Spain.

I would love if he could do that again for us to bring back some much needed confidence to my national side. I remember those glory days when I was watching those matches both at home & in school from that particular WC in South Korea & Japan. The atmosphere when those goals were scored was just absolutely electric. Everyone including my old school bus driver had a lot of pride to us by beeping his horn inside his old minibus when he picked us up to bring us home from school. Oh yes! Great memories indeed.

What do you think of this news when it being given out in the media. Do you think Mick McCarthy & Robbie Keane will bring something new to this team?

Clippety charged with misconduct for running on the pitch when Origi scored the winner against Everton.

Sorry, but as a fan, that’s the kind of passion I want to see from a Manager and players. I chalk this shit up with booking players for taking their shirt off when they score. Suck the life out of the game why don’t you...?

I watched the North London derby from last weekend just last night. I haven't seen Arsenal play like that in years!!!!!!!!
Tob may be right and I was impatient for progress.
I'll be watching ManU v. Arsenal either tonight or tomorrow to see if said derby wasn't a one hit pony.

I loved his passion , but to go without any reprimand would establish a slippery slope as to the potential for other future acts.

I think the penalty (probably peanuts as to his yearly income) was justified.
