I didn't, and now I'm glad I didn't, see the Liv v AFC game yesterday, but why did we drag this Sanchez/Ozil saga into the new season?

Why leave Lacazette on the bench?

I agree, Tob: Wenger should have called it a day after the FA Cup win last season.

Off the pace already after only 3 games and 16th (!): this is a downward spiral which won't stop until there is change

To be fair CrockettandTubbs Sanchez and Ozil have been delaying all offers from the club just like the other players with their contracts running out like Chamberlain who is on the verge of joining Chelsea.
Funny how Wenger stood by these players season after season where they have been disappointing everytime and now they can't wait to get out of the club.
No one knows what he is doing anymore with the team selection among other things if it was any other club or manager he would be sacked by now.

Unlucky today vortex but you had the usual Euro hangover by the looks of it, and I feel for you Steedy as that was a brutal defeat.
Spot on about Palace Geoff.

Cheers Geoff. We have 3 days to get a striker in and a centre back. Otherwise it's going to be a very long season.

I take it nobody's interested in talking about the test match, with a Scotsman, on a football thread?

Just curious about what people think it means for the England team. I think they looked about 70/30 - complacent/unlucky over the five days. Did they make WI look better than they are?

Cracking test match but the Windies really were good value for it. We know England aren't world beaters and although they ran out 3-1 winners in the SA test series it could've gone either way as the second test proved. Watching England in cricket is like watching Amir Khan in boxing, you never know if they're gonna dish out a beating or if they're gonna get KTFO'd.

England also got beat by Bangladesh for the first time very recently - as the Aussies just were - and for the life of them they just can't put together too many sustained periods of consistency. Anderson and Broad didn't look quite right at Headingley and some of those drops in the 2nd innings were absolute howlers.

Maybe they'd have changed the game, maybe not - all the howls of "DECLARE!" on Monday evening look pretty stupid right about now, hindsight being 20/20 as it usually is - but England were undeniably sloppy. Even so, the Windies still fully deserved it because it was such a turnaround from the first test, they're like a different team.

On this kind of form the Ashes series in the winter is gonna be like two tramps fighting over a dustbin. Entertaining, but in more of a "who's worse than the other?" way rather than two teams at the top of their game duking it out. And with the home advantage putting the pressure on the English touring party I think the Aussies will win the series.

PS

I'd much rather talk cricket with you than have to endure another one of those Celtic posts crammed full of photos.

You would be better served starting your own thread. This is for football discussion.

Tob, I can't believe how bad Arsenal are at the back. Wenger has to go like.
It wasn't too much of a surprise getting a draw against Stoke. A pity Hegazi made the mistake (but Stoke also didn't score until after Crouch was brought on as a substitute), but he'll learn from it. A point is better than no points.

Yeah, West Brom seem pretty established at this point. Maybe you will bring in another player or two before transfercdeadline day.
We've since signed Oliver Burke from _ _ Leipzig, an Arsenal defender (Kieran Gibbs), and Paris St-Germain midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak on loan.

Yes not a bad point. Stoke is never easy. West Brom are proving hard to beat these days.

Yeah, that Scottish lad could be a real dark horse. He is a winger, right? Been playing in Germany so will be interesting to see if he adapts to the PL. I hsve a feeling he will be a good signing.

I think Oliver Burke is a winger. From what I remember from the local news programme the other day, they spoke to Tony Pulis about the signing. Apparently he (the new signing) isn't the finished article and has potential.

There is a possible further signing (De Souza) who plays for Fenerbache (I know it's not the correct spelling).

Dreading the transfer deadline. If it's really bad it will seal our fate for the season. No way this current SAFC ride is getting promoted.

Oliver Burke had promise some time ago. Played in the Bundesliga without a Scotland call up while players from the Championship were selected ahead of him.

Good luck to him, but if he's the answer then I hope the question isn't too difficult.

The manager seems to get the most out of players though so maybe he can do a good job.
