The World Cup was a nice break, with some fantastic games, but it's time for my favourite team and league to start playing again.

I didn't think it was one of the better World Cups. Aside from a few decent games, I thought it was poor overall.

I'm just super glad that the new domestic season is finally here!

We made a couple of good moves recently, as well as we should have considering how bad our defense has been since last season. Our terrible preseason form just confirmed how badly we were in need of some fresh blood on that side of the ball. I hope everyone will gel together relatively fast, as the start of the season is just around the corner. The only head scratching move was that ridiculous transfer fee paid for Richarlison. He was definitely not worth that amount based on his production at Watford. I guess we'll see if Silva can turn him into a star in the coming years.

Agreed. And what a deadline day it was for the Toffees yesterday! Really excited to see Bernard in the Premier League. He was a real class act at Shakhtar Donetsk, and is a real coup. I think I'm right in saying that Everton (before the recent defensive additions) had one of the oldest, if not the oldest backline in the Premier League. Jagielka, despite being the oldest at the club, is a far better and more reliable option than Ashley Williams. I for one am glad that he has been moved on. The most obvious first choice defence will be a center-back pairing of Mina and Keane, with Coleman at right back and Lucas Digne at left back. Yes, the money for Richarlison is pretty crazy, but hey, that's how it is nowadays. And, based on how he began last season, a lot of teams would have paid that for him anyway. His form and confidence went south when Watford parted with Silva. Now that the two have been reunited, I have no doubt that we will once again see the best of Richarlison.

We got off to a good start last week and we fs e Luton away tomorrow. 12 new players in and the squad will need time to settle down. Hopefully we can nick a win while the team gel more. It’s sure a different vibe to the last two years.
31,000 was ridiculous for a league 1 match (we broke the record) so we are all ready to get behind the new owners and the manager. Would love to hear from some championship and league 1 fans as it’s lonely on here.

I wish you well against Luton tomorrow, and I hope it all works out well for the rest of the season too. It would be nice to see Sunderland back up in the Premier League once again.

Same to you Steed. Long time no hear. I just recently saw that you guys went down to League One. I couldn't believe it. I hope you will have a solid season, and make it back to the Championship brother. I'm rooting for you guys.

Agreed about our defense. It's one of the oldest in the league. Unfortunately it's unreasonable to accept too much out of Baines at this point of his career, and Jagielka is no different. As long as Coleman can return to his old form, he could still be very solid for us at right-back. With the additions of Digne and Mina we should go a long way in rectifying our defensive woes. I hope Silva can find a nice balanced rotation for our squad.
I'm also hoping that Richarlison deal wasn't a waste of money. Only time will tell if Silva can unlock his full potential. I'm certainly hoping he'll be more consistent throughout the entire season this year than last.
I'm not really familiar with Bernard, but I'll watch him closely in the coming games. I hope he can get some steady playing time because our midfield is already a little overloaded as it is.

Palace didn't do a lot of transfer business but we got a couple of decent players over the line. Solid win at Fulham yesterday, I'll take that.

Tob, I know it’s difficult to critique the play of any team when you’re up against City, but to me, with the exception of a couple players (Lacazette, the kid) Arsenal still isn’t showing the intensity or urgency that I would like to see.

I know this will be a rebuilding process but I’d like to see more desire and hustle like with Liverpool.
