They run sales on some titles. I'd love to catch some of these on sale.

Do you know of anyone that rents these? I'd love to rent some of these instead of waiting for the reviews.

I'm gonna assume this is a joke.

How does everyone know the DVD isn't misframed? Seems to me like a large number of Blu-Rays reveal additional information around the frame.

Not really. I was thinking about 4k today and started wondering, do the studios who own the movie rights really want consumers to have the MASTER in their hand?

Surely it would be like giving pirates access to the the original film, I can't see it ever happening. True 4k that it.

Yes, hence why I've been on edge all day and refuse to go out

In all seriousness, that was pretty weird. Being that it was the N train, it's possible it came from Chinatown or something. I know they sell all kinds of exotic fish and other things there

We jest.

For movies shot on film, the actual source print will always be better than any digital "master".

For movies shot on digital video, the raw video file can always be tweaked for improvements.

Blu-ray quality is already stunning compared to DVD, IMO we can't say the same between 4k and Blu-ray.

You can if you have a large enough screen and sit close enough.

How close? IMO I would rather have a oled tv than a 4k tv

The difference is inconsequentially minor anyway. But I think it's obvious that a few people here are intent on condemning these releases whatever their quality, I wouldn't waste my breath.

Not to worry. Never going to happen, as no matter what the 4K consumer spec for home media delivery turns out to be, it will not be as good as the Digital Master which has normally been 10 bit log DPX files; although recently, that is getting even better with the ACES workflow, see first paragraph here…https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...es#post7612493

I just picked up my first mastered in 4K release today got Godzilla as I don't won the movie and haven't seen the full film in years. I have seen the original blu release(skimmed through ans watched a scene here and there) of the film and there are minor improvements in PQ(mainly the detail and the color pops more IMO) would I have double dipped if I owned the original release no but the PQ is slightly better. Not sure if I will pick up any other 4K blus will just have to see
