The exaggeration in here is ridiculous.
Speak for yourself. I think it's a much more naturally textured film image, and the difference is not even remotely subtle.
I'm not 100% pleased with the color rendition, but the original disc is weak in that regard too.

I Was intently looking for whether the different framing would be distracting. Frankly I didn't even notice the difference. Did you actually watch the movie? Or are you comparing caps side-by-side?

My friend has it and he invited me over to see it. Having seen the film multiple times, I noticed the framing issue right away.

I'm not criticizing Sony's 4K campaign at all, but it was a cashgrab to some extent. Some 4K titles don't offer better picture (Taxi Driver, Battle LA), some of them have framing issues (SM2), and most of them don't feature any extra material.

There's exactly zero reason to buy, for example, the 4K edition of Taxi Driver, because PQ is exactly the same and the old edition is much better in the ramaining aspects, plus it's cheaper.
The 'Mastered in 4K' disc is a tad different. Colours are slightly more vibrant and there is slightly more detail, granted not enough for most people.

I have the Zavvi Steelbook of Taxi Driver and have ordered the UK 'Mastered in 4K' disc because I want the best possible release PQ/AQ wise available.

Could be a price error, but the Mastered in 4K version of Moneyball is $7.99 at Fry's ( http://www.frys.com ) for Labor Day only.

Thanks for posting that, but I cannot help but wonder if they just have the Mi4K cover posted by mistake and it's really the standard version they are selling.

Doesn't hurt to save the webpage if you're ordering online. It'll be even better if you can get to a store and show them Frys.com.

I'm going to give it a shot and definitely snap the web page. Unfortunately, no Frys in this state.

Are we going to get a wave 3 of these any time soon? I enjoy having the best possible versions of these films, especially if they've been remasters at all. Unfortunately they have not chosen the best titles or the titles most needing upgrades yet, IMO. Hope we get some more of these soon.

The 4k blu ray is like superbit DVD, you don't need a 4k tv for this. Only you need is a support x.v.color player and tv.

Who are you replying to? This has been discussed many times throughout this thread. And what you have stated isn't 100% correct either.

These are 'Mastered in 4K' Blu-rays and not as you stated '4K Blu-rays'. If one has a receiver, that also needs to be x.v.Color capable.

Is Desperado a 4K Transfer ?
I find no informations about this, but the transfer looks new and I think Sony begin for years with the new 4K Transfers(wehen they have yet over 70 Titles).

Sony have gone back and fixed previously flawed transfers with these MI4K discs, so I'm not complaining.

They're normal 1080p Blu-Rays sourced from new 4K scans. This has been repeated countless times in this thread already.

Watched Taxi Driver yesterday. It looks gorgeous, but then so does the original BD. I switched back and forth, and the Mi4K disc maybe has slightly more pronounced grain, but is there an obvious difference in detail? Not that I could see. This one's a wash.

I watched the Mi4K version of Moneyball last night. I also compared it the original version.

The vast majority of annoying edge enhancement that was on the original release is now gone. There are still several scenes on Mi4K version where the right side of objects have some apparent EE, but I am not even sure if it is EE as it usually doesn't exhibit itself like that. Grain is less accentuated as a result of less sharpness added.

The Mi4K version takes on a nice, smooth, detailed, very film-like look. The original looks more like video by comparison. Color very subtly looks a bit more natural in some scenes as well, but this is really only noticeable A/Bing.

I think this disc is a worthwhile improvement if you're picky as I believe most in this thread are. Thanks to "blu-ray fan girl" for pointing out the Fry sale on these titles as they would have slid under my radar as no way I as paying $24 for this on Amazon.
