As stated by above poster, it doesnt say so on the panny website. Its also down to your blu ray player as well. My panny blu will output at 4:4:4.

Found this.

http://content.meridinet.com/pub/Pan..._Series_LR.pdf

it doesnt mention x.v. color in the specifications nor the manual. It also doesnt mention support for professional tuning of the panel.

Well, I did calibrate it already. I was just hoping I could take advantage of the enhanced colors. Oh well.

So Not only does the TV have to have the feature... but the Blu Ray player must be able to transmit it also? If so from my understanding the PS3 does NOT do this?

However it looks like my region free LG BD550 handles it!

But the PS4 will, right? Would make perfect sense.

From my reading and understanding (which may or may not be accurate), this is a proprietary flag which requires a compatible Sony player and compatible Sony 4k display. There is some talk going on in this thread at AVS right now.....

Have you guys read differently? My player/projector both support standard xvYCC, but from my understanding this is a proprietary version that wont work in non Sony players/4k displays.

If this is the case, as I posted on the AV thread, I don't ever plan on owning a SONY HDTV, no offense. Which means this whole "expanded color" may only be interesting for those who own the correct players/ displays.

No worries. Total Recall, a Sony BD, won't even play properly in Sony BD players. I would not be surprised if these Sony Mastered in 4K titles don't play properly on Sony BD players and TVs.

Same here. I have nothing against Sony, but out of all their current 3d projectors that I would consider, only the 25k MSRP 4k 1000ES has enough throw range to work in my setup which I am not anywhere even close to being able to afford. So yeah, I am out as well assuming this is true. I am curious to hear more reports though to get confirmation on this one way or the other since maybe this is not the case.

This 4K business is excellent. I don't care that the advertising is confusing/misleading - what this essentially means is that some kind of quality control over blu ray picture quality now exists.

The amount of lazy, shitty transfers we've seen is a disgrace to the format. The whole point of blu ray is to offer the very best, but we've become accustomed to studios rolling out crusty old made-for-DVD or HDTV masters, and settled for 'the best it's ever looked on home video' reviews (no shit).

I've waited for something like this - a benchmark that celebrates quality and punishes crap - for a long time and almost gave up. Hopefully, other studios will now see that 4K mastering is worthwhile, if only from a marketing perspective. They get to sell a 'premium' product at a higher price, we finally get a decent transfer. Frankly, I'm happy to pay more for the very best.

Who's to say there won't be "crap" 4k releases?

The Great Escape was a 4K master. It was plastered all over and inside of the Japanese Blu ray release.

Say no more about that transfer. Laziness from MGM. Should of had a proper remaster, not just a quick rescan at 4K.
