Default Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018)

Quote:
Rich Moore Begins Talking About 'Wreck-It Ralph 2'

Wreck-It Ralph turned in a very solid performance at the box office this past weekend, which, naturally, means talk of a sequel can’t be far off. Director Rich Moore, for one, says he’s ready. During a Reddit IAmA session, Moore responded to a question about a possible Wreck-It Ralph 2 with enthusiasm.

Quote:
“I would jump on it in a New York minute– I LOVE these characters and the people who play them,” he wrote. “And yes, Vanellope indeed rocks!”
As for what that sequel might look like, Moore already has a few ideas. Speaking to GamerHub.TV, he revealed:

Quote:
Should we be so lucky to do a sequel, I think it’d be great to explore online gaming, home games. We have some ideas of how we could — it was fun to begin it in an arcade. And I think that that really tapped into the nostalgia that that has attached to it. But if we were to do a sequel I think we need to bring it up to date. We’re working on ideas, should we do one, that would bring it more into modern gaming, not just arcade cabinets.

Could Tron Appear in the ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Sequel?

Bruce Boxleitner said last month that he wasn’t sure if he’d be back for Tron 3, but apparently there’s another sequel that’d be more than happy to have him. In a recent interview, director Rich Moore revealed that he had originally wanted a Tron cameo in Wreck-It Ralph. And while that didn’t pan out, he’s still got plans to work the character into a sequel. Hit the jump to keep reading.

Moore spilled the beans to Coming Soon:

Quote:
“I can’t specifically remember why that didn’t happen,” he said of the scrapped Tron appearance in the first Wreck-It Ralph. “Of course, with a sequel, I’m hoping that we can find a way to see Tron himself in that movie.”
It seems like a perfect fit, especially as both are Disney properties. That should make it much easier for Moore to clear any legal hurdles.

Tron isn’t the only famous video game character Moore wants to mix in for the sequel. A couple of months ago, he also expressed his hopes of finding some room for Mario, who at 32 years old remains one of the most iconic characters of all time. “We’ll really come up with something good for Mario to do [in the next film],” he said to Moviehole. “To be able to present him in the sequel, would be great.”

How Wreck-It Ralph 2 might use Mario or Tron remains to be seen, since few concrete plot details have been revealed. It’s worth noting, though, that Moore has previously floated the idea of moving away from arcades toward online gaming in the sequel:

Quote:

Wreck-It Ralph 2 has yet to set a release date or confirm a cast, but considering its critical and commercial success there’s little doubt a follow-up is on the way. Tron 3 is also in development, with director Joseph Kosinski, writer Jesse Wigutow, and star Garrett Hedlund attached.

I don't need another reason to see this when it comes out, but I'll take it. Bring it on, Tron!

Discs of Tron, of course!

(Or even just the low-rez version from THE videogame...That's the rule, you know.)

I think the new one should feature games from consoles and PCs' and cameos of characters from those types of games... maybe Ralph inadvertantly creates a virus that affects the entire game universe and not just a single game??

I like Wreck-It-Ralph, Frozen and Tangled all the same amount so for me, Disney Animation has a better recent track record than Pixar.

Love Wreck-It Ralph. I'd really enjoy seeing those characters again.

As an aside, I remember they said they wanted to get Mario in the first one because they couldn't find a good way to use him. They said we'd get Mario in WIR2 so I hope he pops up for a cameo. I'm not a huge video game fan, so I'm fine with the third party video game characters just being cameos.

I think it's going to stay that way too, because Disney actually owns characters like Ralph, Venelope, Felix, etc. And because they own them, that means more money from merchandising. I think with these movies they should stick to characters created for the movies and have the known video game characters show up as cameos or minor supporting characters.

John C. Reilly showing up in the Facebook video in a pair of Wreck-It Ralph hands was the best way to announce it. Very excited!

I watched Wreck-It Ralph again over the weekend and was wondering if this sequel was still happening. I'm very happy. The first one is adorable and awesome.

That's actually not that long from now. Man, with Disney Animation giving Pixar a run for their money(creatively and box office wise) lately, their animated film slate is loaded over the next few years. Which is good since that studio has so little else going for them right now.

Talk about “breaking the Internet”! Walt Disney Animation Studios just announced the most smashing news we’ve heard in years: The beloved Wreck-It Ralph is returning to the big screen in a sequel to the 2012 original film—so mark your calendars now for March 9, 2018!

The filmmakers and star of Wreck-It Ralph—director Rich Moore (Zootopia, The Simpsons), producer Clark Spencer (Zootopia, Bolt), director/writer Phil Johnston (writer, Wreck-It Ralph, Zootopia, Cedar Rapids), and actor John C. Reilly broke the good news this morning on Facebook Live. Reilly, who again lends his voice to the bad-guy-turned-good, Ralph, will be joined by Sarah Silverman as she reprises the role of Vanellope von Schweetz, the girl with the game-winning glitch.

Moore shared that he’s been developing the untitled sequel since soon after Wreck-It Ralph’s November 2012 opening. “From the moment we started working on the first Wreck-It Ralph, we knew there were so many possibilities with these characters,” he said—before revealing that Ralph will be venturing beyond the arcade in the new film. “This time, Ralph’s wrecking wreaks havoc on the Web—as only he can do. Characters we loved in the first film are back and we are ecstatic to be working with them—and the actors who voice them—once again.”

“The world of the Internet is the perfect place to send Ralph and Vanellope,” Johnston said. “The scope and scale are so vast and the possibilities for comedy are endless.”

Today John C. Reilly sounded just as thrilled as we are that Ralph will soon be crushing it in a brand-new adventure. “Ralph is a character very near and dear to my heart,” Reilly said. “I’m really looking forward to playing the big lug again. Making the first Wreck-It Ralph was one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had, and I’m really looking forward to bringing him back to life. So many kids I’ve met all over the world are excited to see him again, too. They tell me all the time!”

One additional piece of big news was shared this morning by Walt Disney Animation Studios:

Gigantic, the animated feature that had previously been scheduled for release on March 9, 2018 will now be released on November 21, 2018. For fans of Disney animation, 2018 is already shaping up to be an enormous year!
