Exclamation TV Showrunners Back at Work Monday

"February 10, 2008 - In another sign that it's just about safe to declare the writers' strike over, on Sunday the WGA leaders held a press conference, declaring their new deal "a huge victory for us," according to deadlinehollywooddaily.com. The WGA leaders especially trumpeted the fact that they now will get 2% of the distributor's gross for ad-supported streaming video of TV programs (though after a 17-day window that is controversial among some WGA members). The WGA's Patric Verrone said that News Corp's Peter Chernin, Disney's Bob Iger and CBS's Les Moonves were "instrumental in making this deal happen."

A new email sent to WGA members says they will officially vote on ending the strike on Tuesday, which is expected by most to result in them returning to work by Wednesday. However, at the press conference Verrone also revealed that even as this voting goes on, series showrunners will be allowed to return to work on Monday. The showrunner is the main creative force behind a series, whose duties include both writing and producing, such as Lost's Damon Lindelof & Carlton Cuse, Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore, Scrubs's Bill Lawrence and Heroes' Tim Kring. Showrunners returning to work is a very notable development and certainly seems to say that barring an unforeseen problem or a surprising result to the WGA members vote, the strike is all but finished."

This is good news. I wonder if we'll get new episodes or wait till fall.

Prison Break should return with new episodes. It's currently the best show.

Hopefully SNL will be back soon. I'm looking forward to seeing if Eli is as funny as Peyton in the annual Superbowl quarterback show.

Have the Lost writers/producers given any indication why they are not filming all of the 8 remaining episodes? And will these additional 5 air after episode 8 with no interruptions? If they only do 13 episodes this season, I wonder if they will add the three lost (no pun intended) episodes to seasons 5 and/or 6. The plan was to finish the show with 120 total episodes.

My brother was very upset about Journeyman.

From what I have read a lot of what is coming back this season has to do with production costs of get the shows back up and running, Heroes would expensive for just a handfull of show

Oh man, I've been wondering about Life! Thank you for this post! Just rewatched the first season of it, and remembered why I was hooked after the first episode. That guy is just awesome in that role, and the plot, oh man, I can't wait to see how they keep it going.

Bionic Woman, I actually liked that show, enjoyed the plot, enjoyed the acting, and would have loved to see it progress. Ah well, can't win them all.

Terminator, meh, if it happens, it happens, not too thrilled with it, but it's got ... potential.

well one thing everyone's forgetting is the actors strike coming up in june or july, YIKES, and they say this could be a real long one.

i saw some scary quotes about 2 shows i love : Prison Break, Its season has wrapped. Not yet renewed for fall. and The Unit No additional episodes expected this season. Future beyond that TBD.
What the hell is that??? lets hope some better news comes soon about these 2 great shows.
