"February 10, 2008 - In another sign that it's just about safe to declare the writers' strike over, on Sunday the WGA leaders held a press conference, declaring their new deal "a huge victory for us," according to deadlinehollywooddaily.com. The WGA leaders especially trumpeted the fact that they now will get 2% of the distributor's gross for ad-supported streaming video of TV programs (though after a 17-day window that is controversial among some WGA members). The WGA's Patric Verrone said that News Corp's Peter Chernin, Disney's Bob Iger and CBS's Les Moonves were "instrumental in making this deal happen."
A new email sent to WGA members says they will officially vote on ending the strike on Tuesday, which is expected by most to result in them returning to work by Wednesday. However, at the press conference Verrone also revealed that even as this voting goes on, series showrunners will be allowed to return to work on Monday. The showrunner is the main creative force behind a series, whose duties include both writing and producing, such as Lost's Damon Lindelof & Carlton Cuse, Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore, Scrubs's Bill Lawrence and Heroes' Tim Kring. Showrunners returning to work is a very notable development and certainly seems to say that barring an unforeseen problem or a surprising result to the WGA members vote, the strike is all but finished." ![]() This is good news. I wonder if we'll get new episodes or wait till fall. Last edited by PS3-Playb3yond; 02-11-2008 at 01:43 AM. |

Oh man, I've been wondering about Life! Thank you for this post! Just rewatched the first season of it, and remembered why I was hooked after the first episode. That guy is just awesome in that role, and the plot, oh man, I can't wait to see how they keep it going.
Bionic Woman, I actually liked that show, enjoyed the plot, enjoyed the acting, and would have loved to see it progress. Ah well, can't win them all. Terminator, meh, if it happens, it happens, not too thrilled with it, but it's got ... potential. |
