Yes, I was very disappointed by Warner's lack of HDM (or at least Blu-ray anyway) releases of "Veronica Mars: Season 3", "Supernatural: Season 2" and "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip: The Complete Series".

Due to their lack of HDM releases, I chose to do without either of these series.

I'm hoping the BBC will somewhat redeem Warner Bros. with a "Torchwood: Season One" Blu-ray set in January...

EDIT: Corrected my post regarding the BBC/Warner Bros. relationship.

BBC makes those decisions, WB has nothing to do with it, they merely distribute their product in the US

Paidgeek, I have another Seinfeld query/request.
Could the canned laughter be removed for the BD release, or at least be given the option to playback without it??
It's particularly bad in Season 8

And as for the "when" question.......my birthday is in June, so am I more likely to be asking for the BD complete series set for my birthday or for Christmas 08???

That is good news! I really enjoy King of Queens. I believe it's produced and distributed by Sony but airs on CBS. I hope it comes to Blu-ray. I am also a fan of The Unit. End of last season and start of this season have been the best episodes so far.

I know. I know. Comedies in high def, big deal. Well, the opening sequence sounds really good. And when Arthur Spooner yells while complaining, it sounds like Jerry Stiller is right in the room. I like the widescreen too. My opinion is based on the HDTV OTA broadcasts. Hmm, I would imagine you could squeeze a lot of episodes on a BD50. Sweet!

The blu-ray player upconverts it to the players output resolution.

You can rest assured that when anything substantial is about to occur on that front and an insider is at liberty to reveal it, you will hear about it here first (rather than anywhere else on the internet) without you or anyone else having to ask.

Believe me, the interest in that subject by forum members is not underestimated by insiders.

At this time, there is nothing to report.

I believe that, at this time, it is undetermined if/how many employees may have lost their homes to the fire.
Poway area got hit pretty hard, I used to live in Scripps Ranch off Scripps Poway Rd in La Lucerne.

Apparently my old neighborhood evacuated, I don't think my old house is gone though. I moved out in 2002.

I think we are beating a dead horse. Universal is HD-DVD exclusive until they announce otherwise.

I am hearing that Weinstein is going through some tough financial times, maybe they will stay out of the race altogether... but I can't see them staying HD-DVD only anymore.

"Life of Brian" was first, we will also have 3 THD streams on "Rent", "Legend of Zorro" and "Daddy Day Camp" as well. I expect this to become standard procedure going forward.

Not likely to see the audio remixed, sorry. You know years ago I actually saw a box that was used for nothing except this purpose? Basically a library of laughs in a box that could be brought in to the mix room and plugged in...

I think they are not happy about the cost of preparing titles versus the potential sales. We will see what can be done to help this...

Will the extras on Rent (if any) be any different than the Japanese version (or the US DVD version)?
Also, is there any chance that there will be branching for the songs that Columbus cut from the film?

You should expect the same features as the US release.

So essentially they are waiting for hi-def to be more widespread.

Or reducing production/entry cost's for a hi-def title.

Bringing over Weinstein is really the kind of opportunity that cannot be passed up, and could give BD a major PR boost going into 2008.

YET in Europe I believe it is available on HD-DVD region free (and easy to pirate) doesn't that totally defeat the purpose of Fox bothering with BD+ when it's HD content can be purchased from overseas without the security? Why can't fox control what media format distributors release their movies on, and or specify clauses to stop their films been relased on a format they don't back, it's very strange. Yet Spielberg can stop his films from been released by Universal on HD-DVD.
I'm not an insider, but I just wish to point out that AFAIK Germany is possibly the only european country that's getting FF2 on HD DVD.

The reason for that is that Constantin Film (from Germany) is one of the financial backers of the picture, and they were able to negociate the German rights. And since Constantin is backing HD DVD, that why the film is released in this format. That's not the case in the other euro territories, where it's a Fox movie all the way.

This can easily happen the other way around. For instance, Face/Off is released by Buena Vista internationally, while it's a Paramount show in the US.

The rule of thumb is simple -- always follow the money.

Default Can any insider?

Tell me when we will start seeing some of the more popular titles from Sony (aka Columbia) Pictures such as;

Bridge on the River Kwai
Lawrence of Arabia
Oliver!
Guns of Navarone
City Slickers
Ghandi
Blue Thunder

It seems to me that if Sony Pictures wants to enhance the position of BD, they would begin to release more of their popular content on to the format.
