Thank you Penton-Man! I had ZERO concerns about this, but the red ants are always searching for any excuse the spread FUD.

Penton,

The A man over on that other forum just had this to say

That was the purpose of my post . To the extent they all lose money on every DVD player they sell below $100 and yet they have not existed that market, motivation can exist elsewhere. For one, they can build dual format players. Toshiba doesn't make one of those. Neither does Sony or Microsoft. The matrial cost can't go up more than $10 to enable such a functionality over BD-only, assuming profile 2.0 capability on BD side...

Since Warner stated they will be making a decision about which format to support in 2008 any you are stating Warner will support Blu-ray through all of 2008, you are predicting Warner will drop HD-DVD support in 2008. .

Based upon HD-DVD movie sales vs Blu-ray sales I can't see how they could come to any other conclusion.

Paul, you’re killin me.

All I'll say is that..... whatever any studio does in the future with regards to format publishing, there is a good chance you will hear about it first, here on our forum rather than anywhere else.

The last hint I gave about a studio flipping (Paramount) I foolishly posted on another forum.......won't happen again.

I would also like to request mkv, divx, ac3, ogg, etc. support with subtitles on the PS3. It is a powerful computer, so there is no reason it shouldn't be able to do it, and you'd GREATLY increase it's potential to be a media center. Believe me there are many people in the world who love to have just a single box to watch movies, not to mention I'd rather watch HD DVD's as mkv files, instead of supporting that format. You can't do the same with BD+ movies. Contrary to rumors of it being cracked, you cannot burn it or make it into a mkv rip

I'm more worried about who is going to be appointed the next England football manager, and my upcoming third anniversary with my girlfriend.
You’ve got West Ham to worry about tomorrow.
Hey, guess whose top of the table?

Didn’t you mention your girlfriend is a Gunner supporter?

Ask kjack, it’s time for him to pitch in.
And speaking about pitching in, do you think talkst8t has spent enough time in red purgatory with the red ants biting his toes, or should we make him suffer longer?

A month or so back there was an excellent link to a Panasonic Hollywood Labs (PHL) website with videos explaining the authoring process and advantage of Blu-Ray including peak bit-rates which, alas, I can no-longer find. Could someone point me the way again, please?

Finally got Close Encounters. Only watched the Director's Cut, but it looked great! Pretty good movie... never really watched the whole thing before (being younger I alwasy got bored out of my skull until the very end when the aliens start showing up).

My one question for Paid or anyone else... is the new packaging the beginning of a trend? I was more than a little disapointed there wasn't a standard Blu-ray case inside... I just hope this isn't the beginning of a trend towards the funky cases and display pieces that DVD has seen... fleshy covered Evil Dead 2 comes to mind, as does Battlestar Galactica (TOS)... Nice gimmicks but just that... gimmicks and stick out like a sore thumb in an organized case/display.

I've been meaning to ask about that. Who did he piss off to get stuck over there?

I really don't know how, or to a lesser extent why, he does it.

Talking point after talking point by HD DVD zealots. 98% of the posts are by HD DVD supporters. Nothing he ever says will be good enough or accepted by any of them, so I really don't see why he bothers. AVS is a lost cause in terms of any hint of neutrality in those "Insider Threads". The fact that Amir still posts in them is indicative of that fact, as well as the "neutral" Mr. Vaughn.

I dunno. How fun is it to torture Talk IRL?

EDIT

Please remember that none of our insiders works for the PlayStation division. Perhaps at some point in the future we will have someone from there here.

I second, and third this request.

And the PS3 Still can't do avi's can it?

pleeeeeeease add this

Penton-man, are there any plans to add more file types to support on the PS3? or not?

Or, can you not talk about it? any reply would be fantastic.
And thanks in advance, your contributions here are one of the main reasons I visit this site, even though I have 70+ blurays

Ha! No surprise there... I would hate to see a book written by someone from a biased viewpoint, especially the A-Man. Gotta be by someone neutral, or better yet, Blu-ray Biased!
