I hope nobody is heavily invested in Netflix at the moment.

Netflix for years has been pushing for original content but they really aren't very good at filtering good ideas from bad ideas. They pay huge amounts to make a first seasons of a lot of shows that probably should get cancelled after a pilot or 3 episodes. Overall I think Netflix is putting to much money into original content and pushing the costs of that onto subscribers. Their catalog at this point is rather awful. They use the original content as a justification for raising rates but they aren't very good at original content. |

I just went for the regular Blu-ray of Son. Interesting film, quite enjoyed its central mystery and it had some good scenes.

I got the BD for review and it is a great looking/sounding BD. Out here they have the digital 4K SDR, but no 4K disc. When I saw the 4K disc was available and it was English friendly (and in HDR), I had to pounce on it. It was a combined order via DiabolikDVD and I used one of their 10% off coupons to sweeten the deal. |

Germany is a great option for me. I recently picked up Shadow In The Cloud 4K media book. I have quite a few German Blu-ray and 4K discs. |

Looks like the ponzo scheme debt driven streaming services is going into decline. Perhaps studios will learn not to put all their eggs in one basket. For all the talk about the death of physical media at least it actually turns a profit

Gotmule,
Any luck with the new PJ ? I've been so thrilled with my JVC PJ and Panasonic UB9000. I ran a second fiber optic HDMI cable yesterday so that my UB9000 video connects directly to input 1 of my projector. The ATV4K runs through my AVR to the projector input 2. -Brian |

We watched The Batman last night via HBO Max. Had a good sound track, not much use of the overheads, missed opportunities. The whole movie was fairly dark with some shots being eye straining soft, the entire movie was not very sharp.
The listing for video was UHD but it and other Max UHD listed movies only played in HD. Spot checked Prime and MA UHD content and they played in UHD. The Apple HUD showed the video was ≈ 5.5 Mbps, audio ≈ 680 Kbps and the network bandwidth 130 Mbps. |

I spot checked it and it played fine in 4K DV / Atmos. The Batmobile chase sequence is epic. Since I recently saw this twice in premium formats in theaters, I'm good until the 4K disc is released next month. |
