How low of volume? What is wrong with turning up the volume? What is going on here? I have Coco, a title some people say has it, and I would like to understand what the main issue is.

I know why they do it. It’s less data heavy and is easier to stream and broadcast. They don’t want to have the post production and delivery teams making a million outputs. Honestly if they just could just render everything and then demux and remux to mix and match what they need.
Like how bad is this and can I use a film I have to test this? I have Coco. Does that suffer from the problem?

How are you measuring dynamic range?

I’m not measuring, I can just hear the compression of the lower frequencies.

The best example would be The Last Jedi UHD on the Atmos track. Go to the scene with the holdo maneuver or to the scene where Kylo destroys the hangar bay.

If it wasn't for the cool looking steelbook I might have just gotten the Blu-Ray instead and saved me some money. Sounds like in the review that the 4K is no better than the non-UHD. Disney really need to step up their game. At this point Sony and Paramount is leading the way for 4k UHD.

Pre-ordered Black Panther on 3/10/18. No shipping notice, no progress, no nothing. Again it appears I won't receive this one either. I placed an in store pickup order on 3/14/18 as a fail-safe. I have a hunch both will fall through.

Best Buy really needs to get their act together regarding pre-orders. It needs to be first come, first serve, and not warehouse proxmity.

I think you're actually better pre-ordering a week or two before release. It seems those folks are given higher priority than the folks that order early. I may cancel my two Infinity War steelbook orders and place them two week before release. There's a much better chance I will receive them if I do that, based upon personal experience.

I am an Elite Plus member and I have at least one major appliance I need to purchase this year. Normally it would be at Best Buy and I would retain my Elite Plus status. I am seriously considering going elsewhere based upon how this and Private Ryan pan out.

They really do need to sort this out. No about of picture resolution can compensate for poor audio (for me). Sound is at least 50% of the experience for me. They've screwed up several big movies already - including a Star Wars! Let's not let them screw up any more.

Walt Disney Records has similarly screwed up the "remastered" Star Wars soundtracks. Clearly Disney is now tone deaf.

The new soundtracks are just the film mixes of the music remixed into the album presentation. Any issue with the film mix will be in the soundtrack, which isn't good for the original trilogy but is fantastic for the prequels.

The ATMOS mixes were more than adequate in theater.
I saw Infinity War in a standard Atmos theater, and it sounded just like a UHD with very minimal rear-speaker activity, mostly seemed to be front.

Same here and I knew something was off from the start and the scene with Capt holding back Thanos you could barely hear him screaming while holding it back.

Like I've said before I didn't spend a good amount of money on my audio setup to get audio that sounds like its coming out of a soundbar from a 4k disk

I meant to post this a couple weeks ago, apparently I was jumping the gun, I read this article and also went back to Dolby's site to see all future Disney films listed there now showing DV & DA.

I certainly don't blame folks for being upset with these constant issues in Disney releases, but the Cap scream being played low was an artistic choice in a big music moment, not a mix issue.

Glad I just went with the 3D release for this one, sounds like the 4K wasn't much of an upgrade.

I saw Infinity War in IMAX and a Dolby Cinema. IMAX sounded great but Dolby had better bass. At least mine did.

Oh my... HE said it, not me!!

The CGI for the final fight scene looked (maybe even) worse than most of Wonder Woman lol. Yeah, THAT bad.

GotGV2 is in HDR10, this one is in Dolby Vision...hence my fear of encountering murky blacks

This doesn't clarify for me what I quoted and is even more confusing
