Sony has release the Android 8,0 Oreo update for many US 2015 and 2016 TVs that have not previously been updated to Oreo. It is on their website. It was previously release in Asia and soon should be available in Europe.

thick negative = a well exposed image containing a full tonal image…in other words, a solid picture to work with, in that the whites aren’t clipped and the blacks aren’t crushed. , more lifelike, we are unconsciously trained to accept specific parameters as more cinematic or artistic. An unconscious conditioning that has been present our entire lives.

I think to some degree that is happening with HDR, where some cinematographers will have spent their entire career developing their craft , their style, their art. In the face of a paradigm shift of what can be achieved in just a few years , things are far slower to change as new techniques and styles need to be practised , developed and proven. I’m sure there are countless examples in production where there is a financial risk attached to trying some in a new way, which creates a default result of “let’s do it in a tried and tested fashion”, so progress is perhaps slower than in other creative industries.

It is interesting because although older folks have grown accustomed to and even like motion blur with their motion picture content, and you’ll likely know more about this than me, hasn’t the video games generation grown up with high frame rates and accepted that as the ‘norm’?

If that’s the case, how long the film guys can hold on to their beloved motion artifacts remains to be seen.

I just went through the hotel's website and see nothing about it being pet friendly which would seem to me - no pets allowed. No one under 21 either.

The TV screen is 135 feet dia. HD - 40 feet high, 14 million pixels.

PlayNitride to expand micro LED capacity

Taiwan-based PlayNitride plans to raise an additional fund of US$50 million for the establishment of its second production line for micro LED epitaxial wafers and chips, according to company CEO Charles Li.

The fundraising plan is expected to conclude in September 2020 at the latest paving the way for the firm to kick off construction for the expansion project that is slated for completion in 6-8 months, Li said.

The expansion project is being implemented in line with product development roadmaps of its major clients, Li said, noting that the company's first micro LED line has been fulfilling orders from its clients and partners since year-end 2019.

The production of micro LED chips from PlayNitride's second production line will enable the firm's major partner Samsung Electronics to ramp up its shipments of micro LED-backlit TVs starting the second half of 2021, according to industry sources.

Samsung has been keen on developing micro LED-based TVs. It reportedly is looking to unveil a lineup of micro LED TVs sized 75- to 92-inch in September 2020, the sources indicated.

It’s generally desirable for a game to have a higher framerate. For the most part many are 30fps, but 60fps is reasonably common. There is a big push for higher framerates now that there are 120hz TVs on the market and of course HDMI standardisations that support it
In the PC and E-Sports space they are aiming as high as 240fps.

Funnily enough lots of games spend time and money to restrict their framerate and simulate blur and poor camera optics to make themselves look more movielike.

On console, sure, and it looks like this will continue to be the case on the next gen consoles, especially PS5.

On PC, I haven't gamed in 30fps in many many years. Even at 4K with max settings, I'm usually getting 60+ fps, depending on the game. At 1440p I'm usually getting over 140fps.

The 2080ti has served me well, and not just for gaming. Looking forward to seeing what the Nvidia 3000 series has to offer.
