I got the JP release of the Steins;Gate movie ages ago. No idea why more people didn't do the same, since it has English subs and isn't that expensive.

Yeah, don't want get off topic too much but have been spending a lot of my anime funds on 4K and 3D movies recently (I blame the LG OLED for these added addictions) and have little to no room for JP imports.
And sorry to keep asking this (well, I only asked once before) but do you or anyone else know if there are any PQ differences between the FUNimation and MVM UK release of Ergo Proxy on Blu-ray? If they both look equally good and or crappy, I can order the UK release for a bit less. Last edited by vincentric; 03-29-2017 at 07:47 AM. |

Good to know regardless thanks.
As for the JP PQ, there are some archived screencaps of it that I saw at fandom - http://www.fandompost.com/oldforums/...l=1#post122674 I may order the UK set (not sure when though) and will try matching the JP screencaps with it for some comparisons. |

Okay, so there is one more BD I want to get right now, Tamako Market. The JP BD Box is out, but I was wondering if the Sentai release has excellent video quality? I would get the JP Box set, but that's about 4 times more money. |

Not sure I understand the Funimation hate sometimes, Railgun S looks pretty fantastic to me apart from the banding in the darker scenes which was also present in the JP Blurays so I believe they did a reasonable job considering they had to work with pretty bad masters. Data seems pretty good at almost 6GB an episode too which is pretty close to what Aniplex does iirc (7-8GB??).
Also I can't exactly complain about 24 episodes for $30. |

At BEST, Railgun S has 5GB per episode. 9 * 6 = 54.
54 minus nine is 45, which is the most anyone will usually put on a Blu-ray Disc due to reliability issues. I haven't checked the discs, as far as I remember, but I'll be they're the usual 4 to 4.5GB. FUNi is lazy and incompetent, so they use the same encoding settings for all their titles. |

They probably fired the authoring guy after he made all the initial settings on the equipment 8 years ago, and now they just have the janitor press a couple buttons to complete the mastering, as he passes by the equipment while mopping the floors after-hours once a week...

The Haruhi series look fantastic from Funimation. Not all Funimation releases are that bad. Some are really good.
