Indeed. I asked about Fate/Stay Night UBW (The TV version- not the film)- and they’ve manually debanded it like Madoka, and mp3dom implies it’s gonna be a superior release in terms of image quality. Same situation with Yamato 2199- both series are pretty expensive to get releases with subs/dubs, but this should be a cheaper and better looking option.

First of all, thanks for all the kind words.
No debanding was applied to "Kimi no na wa" as the source was already perfect and didn't need anything. The less "banding" is only due to the dither applied and a bit better grain retention, I guess. |

Night on the Galactic Railroad US Blu-ray: Screenshots
Not the greatest HD transfer. There appears to be a lot of CRT scanner noise, similar to Perfect Blue. Macross Frontier Movie 1: The False Songstress JP Blu-ray (30th d-Shudisuta-b BOX ver.): https://imgbox.com/g/vcN0XVDW7W Pretty good looking Blu-ray, but there is some aliasing/shimmering during CGI scenes and banding every now and then. Quote:
Hong Kong Blu-ray quality can indeed be a bit of a mixed bag, so it probably wouldn't beat the JP Blu-ray even with higher bitrate. There's a lot of color banding in A Silent Voice that can only be fixed by manually debanding the master. I'm hoping the banding is reduced on the Dynit Blu-ray. |

it's already in yuv8bit 4:2:0 / 4:2:2 ? i can see the horrible banding from DCP in the theater , i hope that Dynit ,mp3dom will perfectly fix these problem ,carefully de-banding scene by scene , prevent banding ,and preserve details. I can't wait to pre-order it ![]() Last edited by stevenweng09; 11-28-2017 at 12:24 AM. |

I know Koe no Katachi is gonna most likely have a higher video bitrate, as it’ll have less audio tracks (either 2 or 3- Dynit is debating over including the “inner silence” track), and being DTS-HD MA instead of LPCM takes up less space (yes, I’ve finally accepted that they are theoretically the same auditory experience, but I still prefer LPCM). Bitrate is fine, but I’m confident if they deband it’ll look better- the issue is how much can be- considering some is from the original source. (I’m no expert, granted, but this is what I’m gathering from various sources.)

higher audio bitrate ----> lower video bitrate and the difference of video quality is enormous if Dynit BD include “inner silence” there will be 3 Audios (jap, ita, inner silence) 24bit 48khz 5.1ch DTS-HDMA x 3 it cost too much bitrate..... ![]() each average about 3100~3700Kb/s (estimate) each maximum about 4500kb/s~5500kb/s (estimate) the video maximum bitrate will be limited to lower than 32.5Mb/s(estimate) i think the ideal solution is to put these audio in separate discs ![]() Code:

Received this a couple of days ago
Slayers - Season 1 - BD from Selecta Vision (Spanish Release) The episodes are provided roughly 3.61GBs per, and contain two audio tracks, and two subtitle tracks. The audio on the release is Japanese, and Spanish but unfortunately for Spanish listeners the dub was retrieved off old VHS masters meaning the quality of the Spanish track is quite low. The set does lack any english options so while I find the set a good release for Slayers in a world lacking proper BD masters I'd say unless your willing to either provide your own subtitles, or mux in the English dub yourself then the release will not be for you. Here are some example scenes between MVM's DVD release of Slayers S1, and the Spanish BD (I'm not that good at scaling up a DVD screen to do a proper screenshot comparison site type of thing. So I've just embedded individual screenshots from both releases.) Episode 4 [Show spoiler] Episode 7 [Show spoiler] Episode 9 [Show spoiler] MediaInfo for Episode 1 Code:

![]() That is a review for the French release of Steins;Gate by ViCklatereur, who works on the Japanese side of the anime industry, though he can't tell me what he does because that would make it easy to find out his name. He does show off the FUNimation release of Steins;Gate, and says it's from an HDCam and the transfer was poor. That's what I picked up with auto-translated subtitles that, quite frankly aren't that good. But here's where it gets interesting... I commented on the video saying how FUNi has poor encoders, and, because he knows English, as I've mentioned in my Stand Alone Complex post, he responded. This is what he said: Quote:
One look at the Japanese release tells it all: [Show spoiler] Looking at the comparisons with the French release (5 minutes and 20 seconds in), it still retains ALL the major banding from the FUNimation release, except slightly less noticeable, due to a filter being applied, I assume. If this is true- BOA better update the list of Kadokawa sending bad masters. Only if there is proper evidence to back it up, though. I misread that comment over a month ago, thus why I never posted it- now that I've properly read it... it's really something. |

Steins;Gate is on HDCAM-SR and not HDCAM, according to "ViCklatereur" (I know about the american version because I've seen the HDCAM SR that Japan has sent to Funimation.)"
The US BD version of S;G had wrong gamma levels due to an encoding error (this is not a master problem, but a problem that occour while encoding the video to AVC). This error alter the gamma when the file is already at 8bit, so this means that the original banding (still very present in the japanese BD due to how the animation studio produced the anime) became even worse due to lack of precision (same problem you can see, for example, in Serial Experiments Lain US). In this case, the "reverse import" is a not-existant problem. |

Can anybody provide a comparison between the Disney and GKids/Shout Factory Blu-rays of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind? It's hard to really see a difference using the two existing reviews on the site since neither of them share similar screenshots. I also own the Disney release, and wanna know how improved the transfer actually is.
