Default Georgie And Mandy's First Marriage

So, tonight the first episode of this show was put out there and it ended a few minutes ago. What does everyone think so far? I loved when Georgie stood up for Mandy and Cee Cee, but I cried when he gave Mandy's dad a hug because I knew that Mr. Cooper was on Georgie's mind. The way that the episode ended was sweet, but I do hope that Georgie and Mandy are able to get a better place of their own soon.

God bless you and the cast always!!!

I’ll check it out in the next few days.

We loved Young Sheldon. I don’t expect this to be nearly as good, but hopefully it’s watchable.

Hopefully Georgie’s family will make some cameo appearances. Based off previews it seems to be about Mandie’s side of the family.

I really enjoyed everything about the first episode except the laugh track. They made a meta comment about it during the show, but it just felt out of place following the success Young Sheldon had without it. I guess I'll have to get used to it. It was great to see all the cast members recapture their old magic - especially Georgie.

It’s weird seeing these characters in a traditional sit-com format. It’ll take awhile to get used to it.

I just noticed that in tonights episode, it bugged me until it dawned on me. The laugh track is lame as well. I really liked Young Sheldon, so I am trying hard to like this, but I am not super impressed with it. At least they had a number of characters on tonights episode from Young Sheldon for the tonights Thanksgiving episode.

I always though of Georgie as a shady, rude and with little emotions person with how he was mentioned and even portrayed by Jerry O'Connell in the Big Bang Theory and how Montana Jordan who plays Georgie portrayed him in Young Sheldon at times. In Georgie & Mandy, he seems kind of like a whimpy guy who is pretty emotionally soft.

How did you see Georgie as a shady person?

He has been portrayed as sales person, but seems like a shady car sales type of person when he does his sales, thats just my opinion. In Georgie and Mandy, he seems like he is alot different personality wise. Doesn't his character over time get married like 4-5 times?

I didn’t see anything shady about him. He sells tires and who cares if he worked in a gaming room.

I guess that being a dad is what changed Georgie from the way that he used to be.

Tonight's show was good, but in my opinion, what should've been done about Mandy's parents at the end is them getting a much-needed wakeup call. Mandy could've said, "If you two don't knock off the fighting, Georgie and I will be packing our things which will include your granddaughter!!!"

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. I loved the performance that Dale and Mandy's brother did at the end.

I did not enjoy it at all. The whole sitcom feel just doesn't fit with what we know about these characters to the point it felt like they weren't even the same characters.

I didn’t like the opening theme it doesn’t fit the character and the sitcom doesn’t work either. If there’s a season 2 I hope they get rid of both the opening and sitcom.

I feel like the show got taken over by Apple TV+'s Dark Matter and shifted it to an alternate universe where TV is a lot worse.

That opening was just plain bizarre, indeed.

My wife couldn't stand the constant laugh track. For me it was a little too much "traditional sitcom" then either BBT or YS, but I'll give it some time since I am invested in the characters. I mean heck, I did survive all of Fuller House.

Edit:
Story wise, we do know that Georgie is successful in the future from BBT, so nice to see the seeds of that. I had wondered how they were going to deal with other cast members from YS, so good to see a cameo from Mary and Connie.

for me it is not that it is constant but it is added when there was nothing even remotely funny as if it was meant to be.

Yep, however good Emily Osment looked in that dress, I wasn't a fan of the title sequence or the incidental music, both of which felt OTT & completely out of place. Mandy's weird brother kinda came out of nowhere too (was he even mentioned before on Young Sheldon? ). Other than that I enjoyed it. It was just nice to spend some more time with those characters.

The switch to 'standard sitcom' will take some adjustment. It does feel a lot broader than YS. Will Sasso has had the smoothest transition to the new format so far & was the highlight of the first episode for me.

Yeah Mandy’s brother was in like 1 maybe 2 episodes.

I just checked and Mandy’s brother was in season 6 episode 12 of Young Sheldon. They recast the role for Georgie and Mandy.
