Arrow McG Talks Terminator Salvation sequels [SPOILER WARNING]

THIS THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!

Okay, now that everyone's been warned.

It will be interesting to speculate where the series will go on from here. I found this:

Quote:
Terminator Salvation" is set to appear in theaters today, but don't expect to see a conclusion to the war between man and machine. That conclusion may come at the end of this new trilogy, and director McG is already talking about how it all may go down.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

McG tells MTV News that Kate Connor (Bryce Dallas Howard), the wife of John Connor, and her pregnancy will play a big part in the future installments. "That's to be explored in the prospective second and third picture," McG says. "We've arced out a story that includes that child and its fate and what it becomes in this world of man versus machine."

Howard continued: "In the third film, it was suggested that their children together become important. That Kate eventually becomes the leader of the resistance when John Connor dies and that their children together become influential as well. Obviously, that's in a future that we're all working to prevent because we don't want John Connor to be killed -- but it is obviously implied that there are children involved."

McG also mentioned that the next film would study "the genesis of [Sam Worthington's character] Marcus, the coming of time travel and the fate of John Connor himself. We've marked out all those stories. And the child plays a critical role in it."

Remember that it's Arnold's t-800 that kills John Conner (the same one that's reprogrammed to return in T3).

i like the way that sounds
as long as they dont do the pre-judgement day thing he talked of
stay in the future, address those things that he has outlined and i am so on board

oh and i still like the idea of having Patrick back in some way if it fits in the story

i hope worthington's character really is dead
not that i hated his character, i loved it
but it would loose its effect if he lived instead of dying at the end of the movie
but they can explore the process through which he was created or something
maybe through skynet notes/specs/video they seize

i'm glad they had the picture at all
i think he'll probably receive it late in the middle film of the trilogy

I'm not hung up on Anton Yelchin playing Reese. Those types of things don't get to me as long as the story their trying to tell is told well. You guys realize it was Chekov from Star Trek 2009? I liked the touch that a lot of his dialog was the same type of pep talk he would give Sarah Connors in T1 (and the extended T2).

I have to admit I thought they would give him the photo while John was on the gurney but I'm glad they didn't. Remember, John has to tell Connor about his mother as well. I think there's potential in them traveling through time but not sure of a full scale war. To be honest I'm open to wherever they want to take it.

I do think they can benefit from Marcus and the technology. We'll probably see him again through flashbacks as it's rumored that an older Robert Patrick will play a scientist that works on developing him. There's also the picture of Bonham Carter as a Terminator as well.

I would imagine the fact that they destroyed the Skynet HQ that the machines would be on their heels some what with their offensive. The other good thing that came out of the movie is that John Connor is now the definitive leader of the resistance.

yes, that was one of the best things of the film
i loved the fact that the resistance everywhere refused to do anything until he asked/told them to instead of the "actual" leaders

Do you guys remember this part being in the movie? Was it the beginning when they infiltrate that Skynet base?

I don't remember them going through water.

Hmm, I thought he told her more about what he had been told about her. Or something like that. To be honest it's been a while.

Let me ask you guys this. What did you think of the FX of Arnold's face? Did they take images from T1 and clean it up and put his face on Roland Kickinger's body? I thought it looked very clean and very well done. Aesthetic in a way. as it did in T1 when it was a younger Arnold.

Yeah I thought it looked great, I was kinda blown away that they could do that.

I remember when talking about whether or not they'd have Arnold in it, McG said they were working on the technology (that it was something they were developing). Looks as though they pulled it off.

I thought they did a excellent job with the CG face of Arnold and I was freaking out in the theatre when he appeared because I thought the cameo was going to be on a computer screen or just in the background with 1000s T-800 ready to go, not a fully active and skined T-800

And yes, I really enjoyed Terminator: Salvation, it was a great sci-fi action movie and I love all the ways they called back previous films via lines, objects (the jeep Kyle Reese and Marcus escape in looked like Sarah's jeep at the end of T1) or even situations like when Connor shoots the lava container then shoots the pipe which freezes the T-800 ala T2.

Ya, when I was watching it, I was like this is so familar. In the fact that whole sequence had a lot of call backs from T2 including the lava / cold combo, John Connor being draw towards a Terminator via a voice he knows (Sarah in T2, Reese in Salvation) and of course, the factory itself looks a lot like the facility in T2.

That would be very cool.

Yeah. I had a dream that was this role. A huge army of Arnold. That would be beyond awesome. I too thought the effects were done very well.
