Just keep it simple:

Put all movies made after 1990 in the trash, and buy the old classics.

Yeah, I'm looking for at least 2 to replace the Jaws movies, they are pretty scary though, made a whole generation think twice about going to the beach, I still dont swim too far lol.

Sharks don't really attack people, they don't swim that shallow for the most part. Yeah I had that irrational fear myself as a child.

Ha! Keep telling yourself that. I lived on the coast of NC for the last 5 years and just moved away, and I used to surf 4-5 days a week, and trust me, there are sharks in shallow water. They come into shallow water pretty frequently from what I and my buddies have seen. Back on topic, sorry!

Yup, I cant stand that whole stupid Scream/I Know What You Did Last Summer horror phase the 90's generation went through, that crap sucked.

But the next generation, The Ring, Grudge and all the others are pretty damn good. The Ring made me hallucinate, especially after watching The Texas Chainsaw remake right after LOL.

I should mention that Nightmare on Elm street and Pet Cemetary are notables, but not enough to crack the Top 40 IMHO. Anyone seen that 1930's lady Frankestein movie? Why is it so highly rated?

I thought Scream as a film was very good. Sure, a lot of die hard horror fans didn't like the film because it was too self-aware and sacrificed the traditional terrible slasher movie acting and gratituitous nudity with WB up-and-coming stars, but I still could appreciate Scream for what it was--at least it was rated R and offered some genuine suspense unlike the PG13 batch of horrible horror movies the past few years. I also thought I Know What You Did Last Summer was pretty entertaining as it had some really cool slasher chase scenes where the killer seemed hellbent on torturing/stalking them to death before deciding to kill, but those really are the only two slasher films from the 90's I'd recommend.

The Ring is definitely an exception to the PG-13 horror suckage. It was a pretty solid film and still scary, which shows you that you don't necessarily need an R rating to be scary, but it seems increasingly difficult for someone out there to make a good one.

As for The Grudge, bleh. I have it only because I'm a Sarah Michelle Gellar fan but there's hardly anything scary about it.

are you kidding me? I have seen countless horror flicks and I thought THE GRUDGE was one of the creepiest films of the past decade-- it was
moody and unrelenting for it's entire running time and had some showstopper
scary sequences I thought.

I guess "scary" is just like "funny" and different people are affected by different things.

Added The Shining (Finally ) and Stephen King's It, what do you guys think? I also need to make a list of all the suggestions I've gotten.

Child's play was scary, the sequels killed it though.

Common guys, what else have you seen that made you run to mommy's room? Also, no Italian or Japanese low budget gore fest movies, I wonder what kind of retarded people make those lol. Friggin gross man.

Not a big horror fan, but I have an affinity for Carnival of Souls (1962) and Black Christmas (1974).

I saw Carnival of Souls last night, and sorry to say it like this, I thought it was a farce, 1/10 for a horror.

Will see Black Christmas tonight!

The new Friday the 13th was pretty good, but I didnt like most of the deaths scenes.....They were way too normal lol. The first 2 Friday the 13ths are still the best. 6.5/10

House of Wax (2005) had one cool murder scene. 5/10

Bad Moon, wow this is one cool Werewolf Movie, 7.9/10

Shutter (The american version), a pos, decent acting but not really scary. 4/10

Black Christmas, The Uninvited, Videodrome, The Exorcism of Emily Rose I'm going to watch this weekend, or try at least.
